Now, bearing in mind it's Easter Monday evening holiday, I'm enjoying a glass or two of my favourite Macallan 15 in the Mediterranean evening sun :)

Well, actually, I just fished a small midge from my glass that decided to die like a god - we should all wish for such a passing!!

I have also been known to drink the odd bottle of bourbon ;)

I mostly drink scotch - Port Charlotte, Bruichladdich, Ardbeg, Invergordon, Laphroaig, Macallan, etc. What bourbons do you like? Huge fan of George T. Stagg, Col. EH Taylor, and Noah's Mill. Pappy's & Willet make my favorite rye.

I'm a huge whiskey fan of all varieties (except Canadian and Irish, really). Been getting more and more into Rye lately, and the crazy blends that High West put out. Check out High West Campfire if you like the Islay/peaty scotches.

BTW - Will trade a bottle of Macallan 25 for Pappy van Winkle 23 if any one has the bourbon and prefers the scotch.

Speaking of Bourbon, does anybody remember one called C.J. Crocker American Spike? It was available in the uk about 15 years ago, then vanished of the face of the planet.

I'd love to source a bottle.

Never heard of a single one of those mentioned in the posts above. Then again I'm not a fan of alcohol n it must be an acquired taste cuz to me all that junk tastes like .....

That's more than a fair trade, but the Pappy's is so HTF after the theft of a truck full of bottles last year. Best of luck!

Ugh, I know. It's gone from overrated to completely INSANE. That said, it's still my favorite bourbon by a long shot (I find most Bourbons to be too sweet, and that one is just right).

Most places in NYC have stopped managing a waiting list for it, since there were hundreds of people on it and they only get a few bottles a year.

Guess I'll just have to keep drowning myself in Scotch and Rye then... Oh well....

Why are you even responding? You're obviously not interested in the topic.

Had the chance to try something I would never purchase last night ....

Chivas Royal Salute 21yo Diamond Flagoon Ltd Editon!

Miracle I remembered that mouthful, but it was a wonderfully blended tipple :)

That's some great stuff right there.

I am hardly a cognac connoisseur, but I certainly did find Louis XIII to be the best I've ever had by far. That said, I don't think it is anywhere near worth the $1500 USD it goes for (maybe we can start a whole Superleggera style thread on value proposition, haha)

Agreed. And worse it's $1300/shot at fancy-pants restaurants. Oh, and the 1.5L bottle is $13000 in a lot of places! That's right, a bottle of cognac for the price of a loaded Aprillia!

I have a Pappy 20yo on the way to me...

My daily are Blanton's... but fav daily is the W.L. Weller.....from the Pappy tree. Didn't make the cut to be Pappy's but one of the best for the price.

But I'm in search of a Macallan 60 for my dad's 60th birthday...

This? It's like $18,000 USD but actually probably worth it if you have the coin. It certainly sells in Singapore where I took the pic. They had several bottles of it in stock.

Mind if I have a sip? :)

Wow, have you ever tried it? I've had many many bottles of Mac25 (and a fair share of Mac30) and I must admit it is stunning smooth in taste - to the point that my father/friends who are not scotch drinkers were eager for more... but that said there's a point where something is so smooth and clean that it looses its character, and that's why I tend to shy away from the highlands.

I'm quite curious about this one, though, especially given that there is no guarantee that age in a barrel increases smoothness. I prefer Mac12 to Mac18, for example.

I generally agree with you, in that the age does not necessarily dictate the perceived quality / taste. I love the Mac 12 and 18 as well, but am disgusted by the 15. I prefer the 18 over the 21, but love the 25 although not enough to dictate the exponential jump in price.

I've never had that Mac 60....I probably wouldn't spend that much on it for myself. But for dad's 60th, knowing that he loves whiskey so much he dabbed it on my tongue when I was 3 years old, it's worth it.
