Unlike almost every motorcycle manufacturer that put a battery where its pretty easy to reach. Ducati put their battery on the left side of the bike behind the fairings. This isnt much of a problem if you are running a regular battery and have your battery tender extension wire bolted to the battery leads and zip tie it so when you need to plug your trickle charger in its not an issue.

The problem with the shorai battery is youre supposed to plug the wire directly into the battery which is located between the + and - sides. Smack in the middle. But the problem Im having and had since last year is that once you plug it in the part about 1 inch past the plug is thick and there is no way i can lift that cable or move it left of right or down. The thickness right past the plug makes it impossible. I even tried cutting off some of the rubber but ruined that wire. Anyone with a Shorai on their 1199 or 1299 that can give me some advice on how to mount the battery properly so the wire can actually bend properly and be ziptied.

Yea i thought the design of that was pretty bad...but here’s mine...I made it go up and behind, it’s pretty tight but it works

I guess I'm confused why you need a tender wire on the battery to begin with. My 1299 came with an adapter wire for a tender that plugs into the factory harness in the tail section under the seat cowl. Can't you just plug your tender in here with the proper adapter?

The shorai batteries wires arent attached to the positive and negative. There is a little skinny rectangle that the wire plugs into and that wire should be zipp tied so you can plug the charger into. Look at the pic above. You dont see the rectangle but you see where the wire plugs into. But its so stiff that I wasnt able to bring it upwards and sort of have it off the bike. Sicduc ran the wire into the bike and around then slid it out. That looks like such a simple solution. Cant believe i didnt think of that.

Now regarding what you said about your tender being plugged into the harness under the seat cowl. When i bought my bike a wire was already on the battery and by the left fairing. I didnt know you could run it into your harness. But then again the shorai wire male adapter is a skinny rectangular piece with separate tiny plugs. Im not sure if it can be plugged into the harness. Do you have a pic? And does the harness have a wire that runs through the bike to the battery?

Oh and regarding the stiff wire, I bent it back and forth (like if you bend thin metal back and forth it gets weaker/less stiff) so I could get it to go upward easier. Also, when it’s connected to the battery, the connection may look bent but that’s just the cover, that actual plastic connection will be straight. Maybe this is a better view...

From the pic above it looks like the usual wires are connected to the battery terminals but it has an additional set of wires that other batteries don't have. Are these wires required to charge or just an option? Seems strange. Are you saying you couldn't leave those wires off and charge from the normal battery terminals? Yes, mine runs through the factory harness. It's the same harness that the DDS plugs into. I have an adapter that my bike came with that has the typical battery tender connector on it. I just plug that adapter into the harness, attach the tender and I'm good to go. Although I stopped using a tender as lithium batteries don't have the typical parasitic drain that lead acid batteries have.

Yes you can run wires on those terminals. But that will ruin the battery. You have to use the shorai charger. The battery has separate cells. And the plug you plug into the battery has separate pins. As does the female part where u plug it into. Each pin charges each cell in the battery evenly. If you use a trickle charger the cells wont charge properly

Im also having an issue with the Harley. Its not charging. The charger keeps shutting off. So now i put it in store mode for 24 hours then ill put it in charge. I wish i bought the antigravity lithium ion battery. You never need a jump pack. If the battery drains because of lack of charge. Its stores enough where u press a button on the battery and that jumps it and just start your bike.

Exactly. I have one on my car.

Im was going to order one but tucker rocky only shows the one with 150 cranking amps. While on the antigravity site they have the 180 cranking amp one. I wanted to become a antigravity dealer. But i need to buy 5 batteries. I was going to offer anyone who wanted one at dealer cost just so I could reach 5 batteries. I would buy 2. But i needed 3 more people. None one jumped on the deal

I prob won't go with the shorai next time either because of so much trouble with charging, etc. those cables and that charger are the worse, had to go back to them several times to get it work. back to the regular battery now and will need to send in the shorai once again because it is not working, store only....won't keep a solid charge....all those blinking lights....yuk!

Other than the placement of those wires, I havnt had any problem with my battery, it’s been great.

My tender seems to attach straight to the terminals. Works fine so maybe try that. Sorry just read your post above. When I purchased my bike new in 2012 it came with the Junior Battery Fighter charger. When I purchased the Shorai I asked the Australian distributor whether I needed to buy the Shorai Battery charger. He said no, which at the time I thought was a straight honest answer. If he said yes I would have believed him and bought it. Anyway that has been on my bike now for 6 years. One of the battery chargers I had just died after a year but the JBF from the dealer is still going. I use one from Aldi now for $29AUD that I use on the BMW which has the SSB Powersport lithium. Perhaps Shorai have changed their design.
