Who on here is into martial arts?

Why do you do it? What do you get out of it? How long have you been doing it?

Heavily into martial arts and bodybuilding. Base is Wing Chun although we incorporate other styles (Shotokan Karate, Aikijutsu, Krav Maga, among others) and make them practical for fights.

My daughter is into Karate, Hapkido

She started when she was 4, got her youth black belt at 6 and just got her full adult black belt at 10 1/2. Everyone else under 18 got a youth belt with a white stripe, Reilly got her full belt (Im extremely proud of her) she takes 5 classes a week, and has never missed a day of school in her life.

what does she get out of it ? extreme respect for her elders and peers, a sense of calm that words can not hurt her, and the mindset to know if someone is being wronged, she has the courage and know how to stop the violence.

we put her in it because we wanted to make sure she could defend herself, she got so much more out of it.

Nice I put my daughter into martial arts as well. She stuck with it for a few years and did get a lot of good training out of it. Then she followed into her fathers footsteps and is into competative shooting:D

Startedmout in GoJuRyu in '93...first Dan took a long time!...(Bo staff was my favorite weapon) .incorporated Muay Thia for several years. These combined with 18 years of collegiate freestyle wrestling round out my base and it was an easy transition to pick up the better points of groundwork BJJ. (all for fun..no cage comps)

My son followed up on my prescedence and became a MMA black belt full contact before 12 years of age (head gear worn) and had won several tourney's.

As the saying goes:

"if you have to ask; then you probably wouldn't understand"

There is not enough space on these pages or time to answer that.

There is only one answer. Find it.

There's really not much of an art being married. It's more of a random science.
