Austin Racing - the rest of the story?

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

There a thread rumbling on a BMW forum I frequent with owners who have bought an AR product and it patently doesn't fit, and the stock response from AR is 'they've sold loads and never seen this before'! Buyer beware!

And this is what I got for my post from Rich

Unbelievable!!! nice ducati post

what you failed to mention Kris is it cracked due to your modifications on the bike, never had a previous issue and the very same parts are fitted to many bikes.

and then i helped you out do you a good deal as I've always done, stab me in the back springs to mind!

cheers mate

Then I was told I'm a liar and a joke!

Not From Me!

I think Gunny's been perfectly neutral on this like a respected member with vendor ties should be. Props to him!

Gents-

I would first like to say that I have NEVER liked their exhausts and the entire thread conversation between Rich and Wilkson (it was him right?) over how ...... his whole experience was left a VERY bad taste in my mouth! To drop that mush $$ and get not only horrible resluts which screwed up his bike for sure AND horrible customer service on the issue was deplorable to say the least! The guy came off way too cocky and never backed up the .... on the broken bike and how it ran with this horrible system!

Also, for the record, since the associated costs were going to exceed his expectations for the relocation I have not been working with Randy at Bellissimoto since he decided to move out to Vegas. I certainly have the pipeline to route folks to him directly and obtain items using the forum discount, and thats what I have been doing for members for the last few months. Randy was never a true fan of AR systems and would much rather endorse the other alternatives he carries- such as Akra and others. I seriously appreciate the "kind words" spoken here by TKarp and leaving me out of the entire mess with Rish, AR, and whoever this Burnsey character is.

I am a realist and have my own opinions on bike parts and gear based on what I have seen work, and explode in the companies faces. Some of the crap out there is a total joke and stuff I would NEVER invest in regardless of what anyone says about it. I use what works for me and what has been tested and shown to produce actual results. I try not to endorse stuff just because Ive been asked or told to, and stuff I dont believe in. Remember back when I first announced Rotobox wheels and just about 99% of the membership absolutely HATED it from day one? Even I didnt like the look of them off the bike. But now reputable folsk like Jeff D and others have tried them out and when i saw them on the bikes I did like them much better. These are something Randy and Lyle like to push because they believe in them and so far they have proven to be worthy. Randy has actually taken quite a few brands OFF his website since they do not sell for whatever reason and have zero income potential for the business.

Therefore, just because I am "affiliated" with Bellissimoto doesnt mean I love everything they carry - but obviously SOME FOLKS do and that is why they purchase them. We all have our personal likes and dislikes and individualality is something I highly advocate! Do what works best for you, NOT what others TELL YOU to buy or TELL YOU that you need on your bikes!! So in a nutshell I could care less about Austin Racing, their inferior craftsmanship, and most of all (to me with any company) their dispicable customer service!
Sorry for the novel of a response but needed to clarify my present position and personal stance on this issue at hand. BTW- se Post #71 I left on this mess wayyyy back in the midst of it all. I vote to shut it down if it gets seriously out of control and starts more trouble between members than its really worth. Nothing is worth getting into these huge arguments over and saying .... best kept to ourselves if you know what I mean. Sound good to yoos guys? :D

Semper Fi !

No man I never had a problem with Rich and AR . I was purely a spectator to this drama.

I kinda knew I had it wrong, hence the question I put in brackets after I noted it. Thanks for correcting me there buddy. Shows how close I paid attention to all of this since I dont own the product personally. Id really like to stay out of this one to be honest since its getting hot.

I do agree with Frosty who said if It had been anyone else, including Belli he would have acted and felt the same way. I actually would even like to know how many AR exhausts Randy sold period and will have to remember to ask him, and also if anyone who DID buy one had issues such as this. But then again curiosity could kill the Gunny instead of the cat!

Did you get that because of your first and subsequent posts in this thread?

I got it because he doesnt like me saying anything negative about his product in the Aprilia forum. I sent him the link to my post

How this guy runs a business is beyond me...

Can you post the link to the Aprilia forum (for our entertainment) :D

Yaaaaaa, kinda wish I woulda just waited for them Akras. Hard lesson learned.

Woot,
Your bike isn't by chance in the shop in Des Moines all tore apart. There is a red S/ with an AR exhaust that came up with an oil leak that needed the cases split to repair. Absolute shame to see a new bike like that getting surgery done to it.

I have had a chance to see this exhaust up close and hear it personally. The only fitting issue I know of is that the pipe comes so close to the sump that they had to line the sump with heat reflective tape so the heat from the pipe didn't transfer to the sump. As far as weld quality and sound...it is pretty amazing. With 1 baffle it is way too loud for the street. We are talking permanent hearing damage without ear plugs. At idle, it sounds like the devil got involved with the sound design. Very mean sounding. I considered this exhaust until I heard it and realized I would be spending big $ on tickets.
I have never been a believer of bolt on exhaust and not tuning winch is what this owner had to do because the tuning that was tried made it run even worse, so they settled with the factory tune. At over $4k there should be a tune to go with the pipe that makes it exceed the factory HP and torque. Sad to say but, without the proper tuning, you are going to lose power with a completely free breathing pipe like this. Not to mention less torque. Been there, done it.(other bikes)
If sound is where it's at for you...this pipe will get you there. You will definitely be the standout in the crowd with the looks and sound, but don't expect to out run a stock 1199. just my 2 cents.

The AR pipe will also melt your underseat area without proper additional heat shielding. I saw a Tricolore at Ultimate Performance with an AR pipe on it that was there for heat related problems. Ultimate was going to send it for ceramic coating.
