Austin Racing - the rest of the story?

well if you claim to do in house you should do in house. just as a business principle. honesty always helps in the long run.

i bet the business case for AR still needs to bring out at least 100 systems sold for making all the "R&D" worth it. by that i mean fitment, dyno testing, prototypes (they are expensive)...

after all, is still think, it is a good looking and sounding system, knowing that the pipes come from a good source, having seen the fix on the broken tab, ... but it has to prove the numbers.

so the only think rich can do now IMHO is ggo out, stay cool, be honest, get an independent source to thest the systems vs. stock / termi/ akra and leave it open to be discussed.

if i was a customer, i would expect him to determine the next steps to make the systems reach the claimed goals under given circumstances (by that i mean not having to buy this and that more...)

now it all comes back to us as humans, and here it is where the .... hits the fan :D

Well... as pointed out earlier their website clearly states..

FROM SHEET MATERIAL TO THE FINISHED PRODUCT

FROM THE F1 MANUFACTURING PLANT TO OUR TEST DYNO FACILITY, ALL IN HOUSE

I see no ambiguity in that statement and nothing that's open to interpretation... Its clearly a completely mendacious claim... and although I am generalising it has been my life experience that when a company/person tells one lie then they probably tell many....

lies? Rich saying he's never been banned is another good one. or it one of his personalities speaking? MPD is a tricky illness.

On the goodfabs website they state:

We are one of the only companies in the world than can bend, fabricate and weld inconel in wall thicknesses of 1.6mm/16swg/.064 to 0.5mm/22swg/.022.

So it's not really a stretch to see why they might use Goodfabs to bend, fabricate and weld their Inconel systems (as it seems like companies able to do this a few and far between)

In the "About Us" section of Austin's own website they state:

WE WORK CLOSELY WITH A WORLD LEADING FORMULA 1 EXHAUST DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING COMPANY HERE IN THE UK

So I'm not sure why this "sensational revelation" is such a big surprise to everyone ?

So I read all this crap and will reply, not that I need to when you read the above.

1/ Austinracing design, prototype and test every single exhaust in our range.
2/ Austinracing manufacture many of them in house
3/ Austinracing employ Fabs
4/ we sub out some work to certain companies due to there welding expertise in certain areas. Good fabrications are 1 such company.

You lot are no more than a bunch of trouble making fools!

If we anted to we can fabricate everything on site and employ more A class fabricators, we chose not to as we like to spend our time on design work and prototype testing in house.

Fools speak out without understanding or realising what they say! You lot take the biscuit!

All this information is on our website for all to see and has been for the past 3 years!

Just so so so funny.

Feel bad!

Posted to put you all straight but now I will certainly waste no more of my time on such a bunch of low level people.

P.S

Keep emailing Goodfabs, I keep replying to you! What a bunch of fools you are!

You know Rich, that is exactly what is earning you so many friends here.

Clubbing everyone on this thread as a bunch of low level people is going to go a long way in helping promote AR. Your exhaust is probably great quality and you probably design it yourself which is great, but what is not great is the way you handle yourself. Some people raised reasonable questions on this and other threads which you could have answered in the way most businesses do but you do just the opposite. You could have simply said you don't do the manufacturing yourself or just do some of it, but you decide to insult everyone who asked the question because you are infallible. Its always them.

Building a business and competing with big firms is incredibly hard and exhausting and everyone on this forum was with you when you started the exhaust thread. There were a couple of people who were posting negative stuff but you were cool about it which was what impressed a lot of us (atleast I was).

I agree there was a lot of this going on:

but then so was this from your side:

Instead of being professional and ignoring the shitstorm:

You went one step further and tried to be a moderator on the threads:

On top of that, when pushed, you tended to bunch everyone together and insult them:

Then you do the worst thing possible and call a customer two-faced when he has been nothing but extremely patient and neutral:

and even threaten someone with legal action:

You can continue to drink your own kool-aid:

And while you think you are stopping everyone with your insults:

Unfortunately, what is really happening is this:

Ok, its now time to abandon thread:

Since there is a storm coming:

I mean this in the best way possible - I really hope you try to understand what and where it all really went wrong. Because eventually its going to help your company in the long term whether you believe it or not.

I hope you don't see this as patronising advice since no one here is a saint (apart from Frosty) but watching the past couple of weeks unfold just wanted to point some things out.

Cheers.

Richard Austin has had these kinds of problems on the Internet for far longer than this site has been around. You can give him all the sound advice you want, it's not going to matter. People with arrogance and control issues at his level will not change. He doesn't think he's part of the problem.

maybe after you all run AR out of here you can work on akra, comp werks, and some others. I mean who really wants options for our bike anyway. Good job everyone!!! pat on the back for you guys!!

If Rich leaves, then we have succeeded, but he never will. We did nothing to stop him from making his pipe, 6 were sold here (1 being dumped), but that is all that will ever sell here. Akra/Comp/Werks would get the same treatment if they came in here lying and attacking their competitors - but they never will. Rich has been doing this for years all over the internet, it's just his thing I guess.

Your post is like so many others, adds nothing to the fourm, and you are wanting a reaction. Well you got one.

Interesting info and reference to the Splitlath team:

https://www.highpowermedia.com/blog/3039/inconel-exhaust-systems-in-motorcycle-racing

And from Goodfabs website, just for clarification so people don't have to read thru everything:
"The company has also entered the motorcycle world through collaboration with Austin Racing. Exhausts systems, designed by Austin Racing and manufactured by Good Fabs, are now available for such as the Aprilia RSV4 and the BMW S1000RR. These are thought to be the only Inconel systems sold for bikes, although Good Fabs also fabricates stainless steel and titanium product for Richard Austin's company. In addition to systems for road bikes, Austin Racing supplies product for racing and, in particular, to the British Superbike championship teams including that of former World Superbike race winner, Chris Walker. Austin Racing will also be providing Good Fabs made exhausts for the all-new V4 Norton destined to appear at the 2012 Isle of Man TT."

Why would we do that? Those are respectable companies.

You can still buy the goodfab pipe. And none of the others you mention are here because they're respected companies that don't need to be on here poorly peddling their products.

are you seriously saying that? 3,770 replies you haven't added one thing worthwhile...lol.

I think gnance should have his username changed to gnancy.

And there we go again with a 2nd post to point out someone's post count.

Why would we do that? Those are respectable companies.

Absolutely true. And if they had their owner or even someone from their marketing dept on here lying and attacking people, they'd be MUCH less respected.

Yes, I am seriously saying that. I can call the kettle black if I want to, still doesn't exuse all these posts you have made today - many others have as well - but you chose to single me out and try to make me feel special, so I feel inclinded to reply. BTW, this makes 3773 - I get a free Akra exhaust when I hit 4000.

So for more clarification... Burnsy and Rich claim that Rich had F1 experience and got "bored" with it... what is the F1 experience? What team? Working for a supplier like Goodfabs or others doesn't count as F1 "design". Our guys that design exhausts for auto have phd's in fluid dynamics and use multiple CFD (computational fluid dynamics) software packages... For some reason, I just can't picture Rich behind the screen of a CFD program, but maybe that's why he got bored...? :)

The CFD program was minimized unless this is the GUI:
