Auxiliary license plate wiring.

Hey guys, just purchased my first Ducati, a 1199 standard model! I made my own fender eliminator and had opted out to use the auxiliary light. I was wondering if anybody has thought of using that wire and splicing it to use it as a charger for mobile device? i.e. iPhones or Galaxies. The space underneath the cowl is perfect for that.

good idea, but i have a cable going from the battery to the upper triple, where the phone/navi is held in its otterbox

that aux license plate light may not provide enough amps to charge. Voltage reading will probably be 11VDC id be guessing too.

If you want it to charge even with bike key off than just put it right onto the battery obviously with a fuse inline.
