On my third set (just ordered). I decided to go both CUP front (VB) and rear; and drop from a C rear to B rear. Reason being, it takes much longer to heat up on the C and causes premature wear. Going to give them a shot, $414 shipped with some free swag :D.

Both my sets have lasted me 3000-3500 miles. The rear goes out first, well duh, and I just choose to change both at the same time.

I'll post up my thoughts after I get them shod in regards to the B vs C, as I have already given my thoughts on the VB/C.

FYI, I go through a set every 3 months since I've owned the bike.

Was still under the impression Pirelli was all we the pani was able to use. Perhaps im being nieve but thats what they salesman told me when I bought the bike.

Srsly? That, and don't ever take your dealer's word for truth.

I use a 120/70 front 200/55 rear (profiles are near identical and I have had NO issues with the DTC). This is the ONLY other choice I have than Perelli which I do not care for.

Getting DOT race tires for $365-$414 is money man, Perelli doesn't even TRY to match that. Unfortunately, not one makes a road, road tire other than Perelli in 200/55. Michie does a 200/50, but I 'd prefer to stay as close to stock profile as possible.

I do use a V front, but if you're relying on ABS in a lean to save you... best of luck.

The Michelin Power Cup brings Competition Design Technology (CDT) to the most demanding Street and track-day riders. The Michelin Power Cup is a street legal tire with a 95% slick tread pattern that helps to maximize its contact patch. Newly developed rubber compounds improve warm-up time and grip in cooler temperatures compared with its predecessor. The Michelin Power Cup is designed using 2 Compound Technology (2CT) in both the front and rear tires.

Michelin Power Cup Racing DOT tires
Power Cup VA, VB or A 120/70ZR17 front; $179.00
Power Cup A, B or C 180/55ZR17 rear: $225.00
Power Cup A, B or C 190/55ZR17 rear: $235.00
Power Cup A, B or C 200/55ZR17 rear: $245.00

Who needs sipes? lol

Having ridden them now, which would you recommend compound wise? I picked up a nail and am just going to get these both front and rear now.

I have vb and b. I was running a c but without warmers the c is too hard for the road and wears prematurely and offers less grip.

How are they? Im considering the B/B as opposed to the VB/B only because the profile looks more like stock.

Im thinking the TC will think its the Supercorsas...?

No issues with tc, and the front should be fine in vb. If you need abs leaned over, you're doing it wrong.

Well I dont have ABS, and it's totally different from the TC. I dont know enough about the TC to know if it will affect it, but will ask around.

If the profile is too far off, it "might" trigger the DTC to intervene sooner or for no good reason. I been battling this issue for a while now, some people report issues and some people like Trans report none. Like i told you earlier, I am probably going to go with a 200/50 Q2 and see what the fuss with the DTC is all about. If the DTC gets fussy, I will just minimize it or shut it off altogether.:p

have also used the VB/ B combo for a trackday now, great tires.

only issue i had was in session 3 or 4, entering the final straight in lap 1, had quite a drift there. guess TC got busy, i held the throttle (as usually) and friction caught back up. ran 32/32 and it felt great.

they will last another trackday and many street miles.

best choice IMHO at the moment, thanks to Trans for his insight!

Thanks for the info and Thanks to Trans.

Any more info/feedbacks on your assessment? issues or TC getting busy other times?

I think I will use these next set. Thanks to all.

I ran the "older" version of P1s on my S1KRR and it felt like i was riding a really really fast octopus once the tires heated up to the spec, getting to heat up on the street was a chore. It was very tough to trust them on the way to work at 7am, never let me down though. No pun intended.

had TC on 6, lit up quite a few times, but no different to the SuperCorsas

I read somewhere that the race setting with TC at 1 is setup for SP v2's. I assume this same setting would would very well with the Mich Cups.

Phil, Im going VB/B since you said it worked well on the track. Wish me luck :D

...damn nails

I do remember myself about Race mode and TC 1.

I've got about 1000 miles on b/c Cups. No issues thus far. TC set at level 3 intervenes before I feel a slide but only on timing, not on fuel....unless I get ham fisted. They'll go longer than the OE Pirellis, which only lasted 1400 miles.
