I am looking to change the gearing on my Panigale to get a bit more out of the top end. I am not entirely pleased with it as my 1198's top speed is quite a bit faster. I would like to keep the grunt down low and also gain some up top. Any suggestions? I do not need any wise remarks as I am not competing with anyone would just like some input. Thanks

Mutually exclusive....

1. what's your gearing right now
2. any mods so far?
3. do you have the aero kit or a higher windscreen?
4. 15/39 FTW

Stock gearing right now, full Termi's and mapped. That is all.

I agree with Stw and don't see how you can keep all the low end and gain top speed by doing a gearing change alone but maybe I'm missing something. Most of us on here have changed to a 41T rear sprocket to improve low end but that will hurt your top speed.

from what I have read the 41t will give u more top end cause bike cant pull 39t to red line

Good point. Maybe based on the original wording of this thread there is some misinterpretation on wether it's a question of top speed or pull on the top end. Now if it's the latter then the 41T will help the bike pull better throughout.

Why not a 40T? Try that out. If you aero-out before max RPMs (like the 39) then go on up to 41T.

I know some one who has a 14T/39T (which is a little more aggressive than 15T/41T) and at maximum RPMs the speedo reads 186 mph. There is no hard limiter. The tach and speedo just stop rising. I'd say that this is a rev-out situation. Especially given how quickly this scenario is achieved.

So I imagine you would ever want to try 15T/42T.

I still want the bike to pull like the monster that is, but just want some more mph because it will not rev out..
