Okay I'm in the market for a new lid and am interested as to what you guys consider the best lid out there as of 2021...?
I like the look of the Shoei X-Spirit 3
The X-lite X803 RS
Bell's Race Star
and of course there's always the Arai RX-7
... I like the look of the AGV Pista GP RR, but its some WAD! (£$)

I have aways been a AGV fan , they seem to have a compact shell and great looks .
We had a crash test review of most helmets on the market recently here in Aus and the Shark R pro race was at the top .
The AGV down in 5th or 6th from memory .
I purchased the Shark it is very quiet and well padded I am still getting used to the increase of room in front of my chin
so needs to be strapped on snug to prevent movement at high speed I use this as track helmet so it is often at
speeds over 250 km .
Wide field of view and a proper 5mm thick visor so much safer and optically correct no distortion
the visor system is good but takes a bit to get used too .
Very very good helmet I loved the AGV but it was 5 years old so time for new.

Interesting .... I always wonder what the deal was w Scott Redding's chin in his Shark helmet... it seemed to be rather exposed... guess this could explain it.

anybody tried the Shark GP version of the carbon race helmet?

From what I researched the CF one is exactly the same as mine just costs more shekel's exposed CF with little to no paint
so from a distance just looks like a black helmet almost negligible weight saving , they are already very lite .
The GP pretty much the same deal other than a dirty big aero out the back look like GP rider for even more moneys .
Thats mine on here in avatar < for some reason to me it reminds me kind of like the predator in the movie , should get some wig dreads to hang out from underneath LOL

LOL
Thats because he has a MASIVE chin to go with his MASIVE plumbs .

I have a Shoei RF1200 , and picked a AGV Pist GP R on sale at half off ( as the new GP RR is out , not much change) Well worth it , GREAT ventilation, reduced drag at speed so less neck strain, and better field of vision

Love the AGV Pista GP R, been watching them for a deal. Would you say they run accurate to size, or small? I’m an XL in a Shoei X-14 and Arai Corsair X. Would I be an XL in the Pista GP R?
Thnx,
Greg

Yes , fit is better than the Shoei I was able to get an ML , wear a large in the Shoei

I got few Rossi replicas and yes thy nice just one thing this is not street helmet it’s race.my problem with this helmet is visor mechanism everyone who owns probably noticed visor doesn’t want stay up

I may be confusing "best" with "safest" but check out the helmets that make the newest helmet testing certification. ECE 22.05.

itultimately comes down to the shape of your head and what you desire in your helmet accompanied with your budget. I’ve had the Shoei “X” line and got headaches 30-40mins into the ride due to their shape not fitting my head shape. I’ve been with AGV GP Tech, Corsa, Pista GP-R, and now the Pista GP-RR.Pista s are light, aerodynamic, and very comfortable. You will pay more for it but it’s worth it. The Arai Corsair X is good, and Arai holds a prominence in the industry; however they refuse to update their design, stating they don’t have to Sue to their safety focus.

Keep in mind, the higher level of helmet you go, the greater the ventilation and noise. I have worn earplugs with all my helmets, including when I had a Shoei RF for a short time. It all comes down to what YOU want and what’s in your budget.

Hope this helps.

I think it is a preference thing too. Some guys like to have the helmet rotated up more to increase their vertical viewing angle. Depends on their riding style and head position. Check out IOM TT riders like John McGuinness, they spend so much time at full tuck that they often have their entire chin sticking out the bottom. Can practically see their mouths from the side.

you really need to try it on, but I was a size down from the Corsair X to the Pista R.

it will shut when you hit a certain speed, it’s designed like that due to being a race replica. However, when shut it has 2 positions, similar to the Shoei.
