Great idea for a new thread. I don't think we have ever discussed oil. I am looking forward to the responses myself.

Despite it saying shell on the sticker mine contains the equivalent Petronas oil. Simply because the dealer uses that in their race team, and that's what they filled her with. They said they haven't had a single wear problem ever. The engines when stripped look like new.

is that a Harry potter oil?:D Hopefully someone else gets that...

Canola vegetable oil is my favourite. Pretty cheap too.

DO NOT use Canola Vegetable oil. I've seen people say this before and it's simply not true. Every time I've tried it I've run into serious engine troubles.
Ruined a D16RRm and a Superleggera because of this misinformation.

ONLY use exactly Ducati specified oil.

Straight mystery oil, if a little is good a lot must be better

Run what your wallet can handle.

I normally run synthetic today.

Years ago would run dinosaur oil for a spell, then switch to synthetic. No worries running synthetic now I guess based on metallurgy and so forth that issue isn't a concern.

However, the new concern is interval? I'm sticking with 3000k between changes.

Flame suit on.

Motoman says mix your oil with nitromethane 50/50 and never let the rpm's drop below 8000 rpm especially while sitting at a stoplight revs make the engine better, stronger, and last longer.

For now I use the recommended shell oil. I'm sure there are plenty of oils out there that work fine.

I would get the comic of any oil works fine but from building car motors for a living I will say that is far from true. In the auto world zinc plays a big part of engine life. The US government made some auto makers drop the zinc content in there oil. This affected engines in long term. Took apart a ton of wrecked engines caused by bad oil and bad maintanence.
