Went for a ride up 36 to Platina today, and as I was rolling along enjoying the ride I looked down at the speedo and I was just breezing along at a 108mph with no real speed sensation. These damn things just aren't happy unless your at a ton and up. I live out in the sticks so it's no big deal, but you could sure get in a lot of trouble on one of these things in the city.
As soon as I slow down to semi legal speeds the coolant temp goes up, the throttle gets sensitive, suspension doesn't feel good, the bike just gets un happy.

Hwy. 36 from Bowman Road to the Store/Post office at Platina is one of the best stretches of racer road I have ever ridden, it has jumps, lots of undulating esses, high speed sweepers, some 200+ mph fast sections, great elevation change, a destination, little to no traffic, and I have yet to see a cop on that road. it is very easy to average well over a ton on that stretch without sticking you neck out too far, or making too much of a spectacle of yourself. The road goes to the coast but the Pani doesn't have the fuel range.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I found that changing from the stock gearing was pivotal in making my bike happy at legal speeds.

Are you still stock geared?

i hv stock gearing too and it does feel very bumpy in street riding..especially 1st n 2nd ...
any recommendations on gearing/sprocket change that would make it smoother???

Great area to ride. You could have went to Ruth lake for lunch lol

Ya these are race bikes. And if your not beating them, they kick back.

whats a ton?

2000 pounds is a ton, also called a short ton
1000 kilograms is a metric ton (about 2200 pounds), also called a long ton or simply a tonne
Anything more than you're used to seeing in pounds is a ....-ton
Anything more than you're used to seeing in kg is a metric ....-ton, or ....-tonne

100 mph is a motorcycle ton

Hope that helps.

Still stock, I'm not going to change it, seems perfect to me. The engine doesn't seem to have any problem pulling it, came off the last right hand uphill sweeper into the uphill strait before Platina at the top of 4th, banged 5 looked down and was over 160 with 1/2 the strait left go. My Moto Guzzi is lucky to hit 130 by the end of the strait.

Hahaha! Thanks for clarifying Cloner! These things weigh heavy on my mind. BTW, I see you didn't cover ....-ton. Where does it fall here? It has always sounded like the highest of all the tons in conversations I've had...:D
