Bitubo Suspension ***UPDATE***

Thanks to the good chaps over at Bellissimoto, I received my Bitubo suspension in the mail. Can't wait to test it out on the track . Thanks Randy and Gunny.

**********UPDATE*************
Installed the rear shock today. Looks really nice. It's raining here in Central Florida, so no testing today. Getting the forks done next week by Melillimoto Ducati in Ocala. Can't wait untilmy next track day.

LJuice26,

What shock did you buy. The XXF61, 31, 0r 11. Do you know why they say the 61 is race use only.

I asked Randy the same question when I was in the process of purchasing the shock. Here was Randy's response:

Honestly the 61 is just a better value.

You don't need, or even really want a Hydraulic pre-load adjuster on a SBK like this, as it's just added weight. Hydraulic preload adjusters are great if you're frequently changing the preload significantly (like say for luggage, or passengers for long rides).

That said, between the 11 and the 61, the 61 says it's for race, but that's because it can be adjusted for a wider range of different lengths, making the linkage more linear for better grip, but it seems to work perfectly fine on the street, as we've had several customers order it and they've all loved it so far.

Thanks Ljuice and Phil. I agree with not needing the hydraulic preload adjuster. Where the shock is mounted, it is just so easy to adjust the preload with a spanner. I will be doing track days so I think it will be the 61 for me.
Regards,
Rob

I can't tell from the pictures, are you running it in the P or Fposition?

i am running on P , as i had plans to track it 2 up (wife backed out due to a crash of a friend).

it is still set on P, and the feel is pretty impressive, i am looking forward to running it on F.

Have you had a chance to evaluate your new Bitubo suspension? Can you give us a review?

Not yet. Ever since I did my last track day (On the stock suspension), I really haven't ridden the bike on the street. I'm get the fork cartridges installed Saturday and looks like I'll be going to PBIR on the 22nd. Once I get them on the track, I'll give a full review. JeffD has puts some miles on this bike with the full Bitubo suspension. Maybe he can give us some feedback.

Just an initial assessment, the suspension feels really good. I have a few nice corners that I usually run thru everyday before taking the bike to the garage. I literally flew thru them yesterday. Its a little bumpy mid corner ( a decreasing radius, left hand turn) and usually upsets the chassis badly, but it felt more smooth. I ran thru a few times to make sure I felt, or in this case, didnt feel and it just felt great. Now just waiting for my 520 conversion parts to arrive and I think I'm done. Well, that AEM black upper triple clamp would look nice to make the picture complete.

Sounds good.

Did Bellisimoto or Bitubo recommend changing your rear ride height or fork height?

Nope. Had Adam at Melilliomoto setup the sag and we set the compression and rebound basically in the middle. I'll know how good it is in a few weeks.
