bmc race filter

BMC filter fitted - job done in 58 minutes. Though at least 40 minutes were wasted removing and reinstalling the side panel to get the tank breather hoses refitted.

In true Ducati fashion, my rearward tank breather hose was ~1/2 inch too short to get back on with the tank elevated enough to get to it.

My biggest complaint and reason for going with the BMC was a rich AFR induced lul around 7k - coming out of a 2nd gear corner 6.5 to 7k, grad a good dose of throttle to power around someone and ... Bog bog bog.. Then 8 k comes along and I better be pointed in the correct direction! Pulls well all the way the redline form there. This is not as noticeable in the higher gears, but that could be my riding style through faster corners.

130 miles today with the BMC filter - Hard to tell from road riding, though it does "feel" better at road speeds and lower/mid revs. I didn't notice the same bogging around 7k, though will need to wait till I hit the track or Dyno to see for sure.

Big questions -
Was it work the time to fit - yes, time spent working on my bike is never a waste.

Was it worth the 61 Euros plus shipping? - Yes, I would say so. I've spent a lot more on a lot less... :)

A few others recommend the BMC as well -

I have mine in, I could tell a difference immediately in the lower RPMs and throttle response. I also noticed that I have less carbon buildup on my exhaust indicating a leaner AFR (more horsies :)). It was a 15 minute jobby, IF I didn't pull the breather hoses like mentioned above. Added about another 20. Unless I'm imagining it, the exhaust note changed slightly...

That's encouraging - At you elevation, increased air flow would be more noticeable. For me, at road speeds, the performance gain not hugely noticeable but there was noticeable improvement in lowers revs, throttle response and I too "think" the exhaust sounded more pure. A day at the track will tell :)

Yeah when I moved here, I lost a LOT of HP. 520 conversions with a -1 +2 helped. Anything helps at 6,000-9,000 feet lol. Yeah, the Termi's have more of that snap, crackle, pop lol. I'm probably going to get a 520 kit for the 1199 soon, my RC has one and it's been working fine.

You know if 1198 sprockets will fit?

I was told the rear sprockets will interchange, though I doubt the front will be the same.

Never know... Looking just to drop to a 520, the gearing seems fine and I'm under the impression the swingarm limits changing the tooth count too much.

Probably going to use a super sprox, any thoughts? I've never used them. As always, DID chain. Considering the Driven quick change setup.

I am also curious if the 1198 series rear sprockets will fit the current bike lol

I have a 40T Sprox from Motowheels, they confirmed it fit, but it doesn't. The 1199 has a different chainline. It slides on but would have destroyed a few parts if used. Before someone says flip it over, same issue and the cush drive only goes on one way.

Look for a post on the this - I know moto wheels I think is working on an 1199 and they did the replacement

I just bought a BMC Race filter today. any knowledge on how it will effect my AFR? stock ECU, no tune or termi UP map. standard exhaust....
