FYI - If you've installed a race tail section and are getting the "Brake Switch" error and associated check engine light, this can be defeated by completely disconnecting both the front and rear brake switch wires from the main wiring harness.

Jerel,

Where on the bike is this located?

Thank you!

AFAIK if you put a load in between, where the lights usually would be, you get no detection by the ecu, so no warning light.

if the resistor has 5 kOhm, you will get a ~0.03 W load at 12V enough to trick the ECU with a consumer...

i get a pic of the blind connector with the resistor in it tonight. came with this:

Ducati 1199 Panigale Unpainted Tail Kit - Pro Italia Motorcycles

@Phil, what wattage? I put a 100 Ohm, 1/2 watt resistor between the ground and the red/white stripped wire and the 'STOP LIGHT' went off as in I don't see it, the preferred behavior, BUT the resistor got pretty hot.

So what wattage does the 5k Ohm resistor need to be, and is that 5,000 Ohms we are talking about?

Does anyone have a schematic or picture of where the plugs are located in the main wiring harness? I don't want to start pulling stuff randomly.

Hi,

Does disconnecting the brake switch harnesses adversely affect the operation of the ABS?

Tcelano brings up a good point. I'd like to know this too.
Does disconnecting both front and rear brake switch cause the abs to not work correctly. Would be putting a resistor in place more preferred?
