are such a waste of money

okay, i'm coming out:

i remember where i posted, that with the 19k invested in the 1199 in 2012, i could have bought a nice pre-owned tuono for street riding, a cheap 600 for the track and a crosser for practice.

well - i should have done just that.

the 1199 is sitting in my garage. i find myself riding the grom around town and on back roads.

i have a blast racing a 75 (max.) HP SV650.

next bike i'm going to buy is a full crosser.

i am building a 350 2-stroke hybrid.

and still, the sexiest bike known to mankind is collecting dust.

so kids, listen:

do what you want :D
but don't be stupid!

I don't think you should post buying a cross dresser on here. It may be frowned upon lol.

Now seriously. You're right. I'm buying a grom and I'm racing it.

the GROM class is the fastest growing class in wera ;)

and there's gonna be a national championship :D

tires last 2 seasons and you can't outrun someone just because you've invested 20 grans more into the bike.

no, for real, I'm keeping the 1199 because i love it. but damn, all those other temptations with their quick reward...

i thought about trading up to a 1299 just to keep the flame burning, but i fear, there's no hope for me.

i don't have the coin to fully race the 11/ 1299, so that's pointless. and since i'm addicted, i will have to see where i can get the cheapest crack.

looks like i'm over vanity.

The last few days Ive been thinking about getting the new base 1199 my dealer has sitting around instead of the 1299s. I know I can't afford to race it but I can for a street/trackday bike. Do they let groms in Trackdays lol? I was serious about racing it. I didnt know wera had a series for it. And the same thing happens when dudes date hot chicks, they do it for so long it gets boring or old, then they go for dirty chicks.

.

you would be shocked to see what you can buy a salvaged 1199 for... I just came across a totaled 1199 (fairing damage and dented exhaust) for 4k... perfect track bike...But sadly I knew I couldn't do it as I would have to make the bike just as my street bike is and I would have over 10k invested in a weekend.

+1 I'm racing a 95 BHP 1999 honda hornet 600 and loving it! Even the ...... condition of the bike makes me proud...that i haven't put a dime into it. My 1199R is well like dating a stripper...lol. Makes you cry, takes your cash, leaves you satisfied! Not sure if you should take it home...lol.

As far as the Grom.... I have a mini GP and I am getting a second one so I can race around with my 11 year old. They are more fun than anything.

Keep the S thank me later.

I knew what I was getting into when I did this.

Not racing, and wanted a sick canyon carver, and found the 848 to weak and not enough quality in the suspension, and a torture rack. lol

The 1199 S is the best bike I have ever owned and I smile every ride.

If i was shopping for a bike at the moment n didn't own an 1199, I'd do it all over again. All my mods n all. Don't regret it for a single second and worth every penny. Ok, maybe not worth every penny since it is a premium brand but still, I'd do it again, no questions asked.

Sold all my bikes because they were collecting dust except for my 2012 1199. Honestly they were just too boring after riding the 1199 for 2 1/2 years (plus I had to make room in the garage for the next couple of bikes I plan on purchasing). There is no other bike at the moment that gets my heart rate pumping and adrenaline flowing like the 1199.

My 1199 is about to turn into a dedicated track bike to replace the old trusty R1 and R6 because it has way more power, better handling and lighter than the R1/R6.

My next Canyon Carver will be the RSV4 RF if I get get my hands on one or 1299 base or S. Jury is still out on the "S" suspension for me at the moment and possibly a R1M for another track bike that will be in the works.

I've been contemplating bike purchases myself lately.... I love my Tri and it 's my dream machine but for the cost of it and all the mods I could have had a Multi and a 600cc track bike. I love riding the track but I ride it with a bit of caution as it would be expensive to wreck and repair. I was almost thinking of selling it and getting a new Multi and a 600cc track bike but hate loosing my ... on resale and I do still love it... I'm torn.

i have 3 bikes and i must say the most fun i have is on my ninja. thats my track bike. i got it for a steal. no insurance no lights no registration no worries. hopefully i dont crash it at the track but if i do it was fun while it lasted.

the 1199 and the hp4 i love riding them and i wish i had the balls to put it on the track but i wouldnt risk it. the problem with these 2 bikes is i have to be in eyesight of them, freaks me out when people get to close, when people back out of their spot at starbucks they always come close to hitting the bikes (kidding i hate starbucks), cops pull you over for no reason or with a reason, everybody wanting to race you and my favorite how much is that?

all that being said im with double 0 i would do it all over again

I'm keeping my R for the track - Not racing this next season. The plan is to take some time off to travel but probably wouldn't upgrade to the 2015 if I was. My first season racing the 1199 base I made the mistake of keeping tabs of how much I spent on mods, spares, motors, tires, track days, travel, etc. I really only did it because I started a race team and was tracking expenses for all 6 members of the team for accounting purposes; I highly recommend never doing that. It's fookin ridiculous.

My 1290 Super Duke is the most fun I've ever had on the street so that is staying.

What is a crosser ? Are you talking about a motocross bike ?

i have a blast racing a 75 (max.) HP SV650.

Had a blast racing a '93 Duc 750ss (about 65hp). Even managed to win a couple of WERA regional HW Twins C'ships on it.

Doesn't have to have obscene amounts of HP to be fun. Wish I still had that 750ss. Worst decision I ever made (selling it).

I am in the same boat with buying the 1299S.. I have my track only Honda CBR 600RR which is a blast and great track bike, New Yamaha YZ250 F moto x Bike and a new last year KTM 1290 SDR..My plan is to ride my new 1299 S on the track, but not sure I want to risk wrecking such a nice bike....THANKS for starting this thread and making me think!!!

by all means, i don't want to talk anyone out of buying the greatest MC on the planet!

i just realized that i talked myself into owning one, was all thrilled about the 4 months waiting, the ride up to Indy to the GP in 2012, all the tickets, the mods, the fun and so on.

it just doesn't get me to ride it a lot any more - and that after not even 3 years?
