Thicker and more surface area, so less prone to warp in extreme braking. Plus floating disk, so technically can seat better with the pads. The main reason non-heavy racers buy them is the "bling", gold rather than black hubs.

Brembo doesn't recommend these for street, is that because they take a bit to warm up?

yes, and its a race pad. would be some expensive pads for the streets
