Well the time for new rubber has come, I've never been a huge fan of Pirelli on any of my Ducati's over the years and on my old 1098 went and put the Bridgestone S20 on it as a replacement for the OEM. It was an amazing tyre - Heated up almost instantly and gave amazing feedback.

Now I know I am in the minority with my feelings on the Pirelli and that's fine. I spoke to my local guy who has SP's and the new Bridgestone S20 Evo (200/55) in stock.

At this point I'm leaning towards giving the S20 EVO a go as its predecessor was so good - so surely you'd think this is an improvement.
It coming in the right size also helps as I didnt want to have to be fiddling with any settings. I know some guys went Dunlop and I've heard mixed things there - its nice to have an alternative to the SP (for those that want it).

Im thinking of getting the EVOs on Saturday and will report back.

Never be afraid to go outside the box Wolf. Great things are discovered there. Let us know your thoughts

Do it. Everyone here either sticks with the Pirelli or goes Dunlop so it will be nice to read about the performance of another brand.

I'm all set, Bridgy and I will be rekindling our love affair 8am Sat morning and I can't wait.
I will report back and try and be as objective as I can.

Ive used bridgestone street tires with great sucess on some of my other bikes. The 016 were great. I think these will be a good replacement as well.

The S20 Evo should be a good alternative for street tire; I ran a set of S20's on my 1199 as an off-season tire (for cooler, damper, dirtier roads, and less pace) and liked them a lot. They were very neutral, with plenty of grip for the road and good feedback. The Evo's ought to be an improvement with the changes to casing rigidity and center rear compound, not to mention a true 200/55 rear to keep TC issues at bay. The S20 was a far better tire than my most recent off-season set, Michelin PP3's, which are relatively brick-like in comparison and lack feel and grip. I think you have to move to the Super Sport line now in Michelin as the PP3's feel more like a sport touring tire now. They're fine for tooling around on crappy roads or JRA at low to middling pace, but not at all confidence inspiring at speed.

Peeling the still-fresh PP3's off and spooning some RS10's on shortly, so it'll be nice to get some good rubber on again - am expecting large amounts of goodness... ;)

question is the s20 evo above or below the rs10?

also most go dunlop because of the price. i guess on the street it doesn't matter to much on the track i don't know never put the pani on the track but i love the q3 on my ninja

I'm currently running bridgestone s20 evo's front and rear. The rear is almost finished after about 2000 miles. It's a 190 section too as that's all my local shop had at the time, but I've noticed no difference compared to the pirelli, I only ride on the street though. Will fit another, but might wait until spring now.

im confused? bridgestone makes the rs10 and s20evo did i miss a joke I've been up all night consoling 46 fans so I'm a little slower than normal today

No I just wanted to keep you on your toes after a hard nights work

This is for road? I'm using both on each my two bikes at the moment. S20evo warms up very easily yes.
But I find the turning is slower than SP. ie bike handles much better with the SP.

" Consoling 46 fans " LMFAO!!!!!

Thats a thread on its own, way to " Kick it off ".

I installed the S20Evos on my 2012 1199 Tricolore this autumn, after 3 previous sets of Supercorsa SP. The reason I wanted to try another brand this time, is that on half worn rubber on the Pirellis, the front tends to get unstable in cornering at mid lean angles. It slides in and out of its perfect line and feels more insecure. My impression of the S20 Evos are that they are more neutral, not so eager to turn into corners in the beginning of the turns. Which I find good, the bike acts more like the older 916/996s, with more slow chassis, you must push it a little more. The more you lean, the more S20Evos act like the Pirellis, sharp and agile.
I can warmly recommend these tires, still I have not experienced them at half worn yet, to few kilometers, bike is now parked for winter. My riding is on public roads in Norway, where it can be both wet and cold asphalt on twisty roads, as well as warm summer temps. The tires heats up nicely as well.
