I have a set on my road-going speed triple, which dropped 14 pounds of rotating mass - an INCREDIBLE difference/improvement on that bike because the OEM wheels are very heavy.
As noted above, the functional benefits will be less if you are coming from the forged wheels on the S or R models.
In terms of durability, I have about 35,000 miles and 11 years on them. They are still stellar.
Downsides:
- Most places wont change tires for you with these rims; the perceived risk of damaging the wheels is to great. So, unless you do your own tire-changes, that is something to consider.
- The other thing to consider is that the carbon wheels do not hold any heat. Thus, if you are using tire warmers at the track, your tires heat up faster AND they cool down faster. (Think of a re-start after a red flag event.)
I've got a couple of pairs of S wheels for racing and I am thinking of getting a set of carbon wheels for track days. (track only bike)
I hope this helps.
