Hi Guys!
I currently own a 2016 959 Panigale, and wanted to upgrade to the new Panigale V4. I been researching constantly about how hot the bike gets, and a lot of the responses say it gets hot, but it's not bad, and some even say it's cooler. The dealer obviously isn't helpful, and i can't demo any bike in canada since dealers don't have any here to demo. This definitely makes the purchase harder as i don't know what to expect. I heard the new software update changes how the fan operates to make the bike a little bit cooler, but i can't really comment on that.

The V4 has always been my dream bike and i'm in a position to finally purchase one (i have a deposit on it and won't get it until April 2023).

My question for you guys is, is the heat really that bad? I mainly ride on country roads, sometimes to work (where i occasionally hit traffic) and no track riding (i know, waste of money owning a machine like this)

The people that i speak to keep telling me to get a s1000RR, but i don't know how i feel.

Can you guys help me with the heat issue? How bad is it? Any of you guys with the 2022 V4 with the new software update? How does the heat compare to the 959 Panigale?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

If heat is even a concern I'd suggest getting another bike.

Fair point, i don't find the 959 panigale heat an issue. I been told people legs get burned with this bike, that's obviously concerning. Heat is expected with the ducs, and it's just part of ownership.

Heat has (for the most part) always been an issue with ducati big bikes, especially with the panigales. If you're expecting traffic, expect major heat and dress accordingly. Regular jeans/pants won't do. Solutions to heat are costly so either buy a used v4 and remedy the problem or expect to dish out another $5k or more on your new bike.....if you want to address the issue

I get a heat rash on my left leg if stuck in traffic. I don't ride if its over 95F.

I feel all the heat when I ride on my thighs. I wear leathers and I rarely notice it. I have ridden in jeans and it can be brutal when you’re stopped

You ride on your thighs? Damn, you do superman wheelies too? 😎

It’s hot despite the updated fan strategy. Fan kicks on more frequently. Might make the bike cooler, not the rider. Any V-type engine is going to be hot for the rider. It’s inherent of the design. A bomb is literally exploding under your balls. It’s going to get hot.

The V4 engine is more characterful than all the rest of the liter bikes at the expense… of being expensive and not really practical. But carpe diem!

is the heat more towards your thighs, ..., or lower calves?
Its only on the very top part of my upper left calf just below the knee. With the stock exhaust riding around when it was hot I'd look down to see if my leg was smoldering. The heat is no joke. The other aspects of it make up for this defeciency, but if you are in any real way worried about heat, look elsewhere.

Every time I even look at it I forget about the heat.

On the track in full leathers I never even thought about the heat.

If you're worried about heat its the wrong bike, if you love the Ducati experience you wont care if you're riding a BBQ and you legs are being slow cooked for Gigi Dall'Igna to enjoy with Chianti and fava beans

I own a 2020 BMW S 1000 RR, M package, full ti exhaust, Brent tuning stage two. I have ridden the v4 and do want to add one to the collection. I can tell you you will have no issues with the BMW and the cruise control and he groups are quite nice in position is great for exactly what you do. That's why I bought the BMW in the first place but I keep thinking about the V4... Unfortunately the heat is a real issue which would reduce the month side of the year I could ride the v4, seating position is a little more forward and weight on the wrist. That wouldn't be an issue if they were cruise control to help me lean back and take a break from time to time. I don't see why Ducati won't add this feature since it already has the electronic throttle plate. Sometimes we have to go on long boring straights to get to the twisties. I'm currently looking for either a corse v4 or possibly a Bayliss v2. Hope that little bit of input helped, I'm been cursed with the same choices.

Coming from a 959 to a 22 V4, I was a bit surprised of the heat on the inside/underside of the left thigh, can't say i've noticed the heat on the calf though.

The V4 is a bit hotter than the 959 on the left side, but at the same time I think the 959 was warmer on the right side and on the seat. It feels like the heat is more concentrated on one spot, rather than all around like on the 959.
That said, I haven't ridden the V4 in more than 27C/80F, never got the summer heat in Norway this year...

What about using the money that the V4 costs and getting a V2 Bayliss? Exhaust, flash, filter and carbon wheels and your good to go.Same heat that your already used to.What's insurance cost in your province for a V2 versus a V4?

Where you feel the heat might depends on your proportions and foot placement. I'm 6'-3" with relatively long legs.

Either way, the left side feels like someone left the oven door open.

I've go zero heat issues. Riding jeans or leathers. Swapped out the exhaust box and rear heat shield though. And I lane split in gridlock traffic.
Maybe some with shorter legs put their knees closer to the cylinder head, but I have man legs.. so that may be another reason.
