Hello:

Does anybody know the function of the cable in the attached picture of a V4R (see arrow)?

When I picked up the bike, this cable was disconnected. I reconnected it but do not know what it is doing. Any info is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
dc

Karl is just jealous cuz you got a new R and he is still on a beat up 749

That is the plug for the nitrous oxide injection system

Plugging it in just voided your warranty

Welcome to the forum : )
That makes sense since the bike is kind of slow compared to my H2.

That looks like a battery tender/maintainer plug to me
I don’t have an R so I’m not sure tho
But yes see if it goes to the battery

+1 looks exactly like a battery tender. Make sure you get the right battery tender for your battery. You certainly have a Lithium Ion Battery which requires a Lithium Ion Battery charger. Any other will destroy the battery.
I could be totally wrong though and indeed it's the nitro port.

Thank you for the info.

Looks like the connector for the “battery tender” brand of tenders. If you get one make sure its for the lithium bat that the r comes with.

Like many aspects of superbikes, they're elements pushed to the limits for minimal weight etc. Depending on riding habits, frequency / length of trips, how loud you play the stereo, how much NOS you use, how many LED strips + other signage you've added, & if you go to starbucks the battery can get a little dim. Plus it just looks so tech when you have a bike plugged into to the wall in the living room.

Why is a tender even necessary for a Li battery?
