got a call from Ducati in Italy (he claim, so I believe) this morning.
after all the congratulatory small talks, he ask about my biking experience and whether this is my first Ducati, and what other bike i was considering prior to this purchase...
also ask permission to send promo stuff in the future.

I was about to post the same, I just got mine @ around noon here in NYC and she also claimed it was from Ducati in Italy. Same conversation confirmed my address and e-mail for future promotional purpose and biking experience also what preference bike I consider before choosing the Panigale.

I am a sceptic old fool. Why would ducati italy do that. Hope your bikes are well secured and insured if you have given them your address. Hope I am just sceptic

Standard procedure. I hope to have a woman this time, since I had a guy last time, and I rather like women; don't ask me why.

Not really here in NYC they don't ask permission to take it, they just take it even with you ridding on it. Besides she ran all my info to me and ask me if they can contact me for future promotional stuff, I remember having a call of some sort last year same time when I bought the 1198 SP, but call dropped.

Glad you guys are cool about it. Dont get that here in UK, well i didnt anyway maybe I am too fugly for girls to call. I would cry if someone took my lady from me. Ride safe guys and enjoy on that note off for another ride

I'm from the UK and and had a call Ducati, about a month ago. Male with strong Italian accent. Wanted to know what other bikes I had considered and could I go on their mailing list. I'm sure it was a genuine call as it came through on my unpublished mobile number that i had given to the dealer. It was a bit surreal at the time as I was walking down the street in Toronto.

Hi Paddockstand is Jersey in the Uk :) or is that just a woolley statement:).

Do you not find if you accelarate that you fall off the island

Ride safe have fun

Did they have accents? Or perfect English?
I'm Dominican (Spanish) and the lady spoke with an accent that @ first I thought would be an Hispanic, but when she kept talking it would be more like she was Italian. And the phone number came out BLOCKED.

They called me a couple days ago when I put in a request last week to see when exactly my dealer was going to recieve my bike. They said they would get back with me to supply exact date. Ill wait a week. If its not in by the first week of June I'll shout at them again. But my dealer assures me it is coming in by the end of May according to an email of shipment confirmation from Ducati. Yet no VIN, just says "You will recieve 2 base model 1199's in May". Course I get the first one coming in! :D Getting ambitious!

The call from Ducati Italy is matter of course now with all new models.
It was introduced when the MTS1200 was released.

I even got the call myself last wednesday on my mobile at home ;)

When you sign the paperwork from the dealer in part of the service book activating Roadside Assistance, 2 year warranty etc you signed a form agreeing with Ducati having and using your email address and phone number. It`s all due to the data protection act.
This should and would have been pointed out to you by the dealer.

I hope you guys are letting them know your honest opinion when they call (aka the things you dislike SHOULD be discussed.) If you're having false neutrals etc LET THEM KNOW.

I think they should have known about false neutral since last year that was one of the major issue on the 1198 SP, by the way I had one that scared the crap out me @ 3rd to 4th gear :( , the dashboard lit like a Christmas tree and the beast scream out wild. this happened cause soft shifting, I should've known better  , hope this doesn't come later and bite me after 1st service. :(
