I have a 1199 base, and was wondering if it is possible to change the silver aluminum part of the stock exhausts and have it wrapped carbon fiber and maybe throw a clear finish on it to make it shine and look good.

Again just the silver part of the stock cans. What is it by the way? Silver metal, aluminum, or titanium? I swear I'm not trolling lol.

This is not a pic of my bike I just Google imaged the OEM cans just to give you guys a visual.

Cheers mates! :)

Yes,
It can be removed with help of a rubber mallet and lightly tapping it because it has a layer of heat wrap underneath it so is a tight fit, you also have to remove the top mounts(2 bolts) which hold the alloy cover in place.

I wrapped mine myself.

I removed and vapor blasted the aluminium covers to bond prep them
I layed 2 plys of 200gsm pre-preg tooling material onto the covers, put them in a vacuum bag and cured them in an oven.

the surface needed a little sanding just to flatten out any crease marks that were in the bag, i used epoxy resin to cover the carbon before wet, drying them smooth and polishing them up.

The heat of the exhaust caused the carbon to bubble and smoke ruining the covers.
they did look good though.

the difference is, the one that the OP is asking for are made with ceramic carbon which is VERY heat resistant.

you cannot compare is to regular CF.

they also make a heatshield for the headers out of the same CCF.

Mine has been powerkoated (ceramic - inside and out).

you don't need to use ceramic carbon to make the shields just a carbon with a high temperature resin system.

the material i used could have been post cured to take the heat but the epoxy id put over the to couldn't take the heat.

if i was to do it again id make the whole shield and not cover the aluminium, i was being lazy.

i only have one photo because i've since changed to an akro
