Anyone have one of the carbon mono subframe/tail section? Thoughts? How does it crash???

Destroying a carbon rear subframe will be the least of your issues . You will crash worse .

I have the CDT Carbon subframe with the street/track interchangeable tail. How does it crash? I have no idea how to even address that question. There are a maybe a handful of fools (myself included) that were goofy enough to buy one of those things. I'm fairly certain that they are not going to get back to you anytime soon with any crash data. Im sure any video of a motorgp bike swapping ends will probably give you the answer your looking for.

We've installed several of the Shift-Tech units, I can only recall one being crashed at the track (low side into the grass) and it turned out fine, just some scuffs on the outer edge. The big risk is in a flip-over crash if the subframe takes a hard hit from the side or top, logic would dictate it's going to break, and that's an expensive replacement. I think it's a great product, looks really trick, although it's really not much lighter than running the Motoholders aluminum subframe and standard fiberglass race tail, 1.8 lbs. lighter is all. I was going to put one on my bike until I weighted it and decided the crashability of the standard setup was worth the 1.8 lbs.

Jarelj brings up yet another excellent point. If I had to do it over, I would have absolutely gone with an aluminum subframe and some sort of CF tail. I will say that the heat issue with the CDT subframe and Akra system is gone. The CDT unit did require a bit of engineering to fit as it ships in a rather "customize to suit"fashion depending on what your running for exhaust, and electronics. I put my Rapidbike unit in the tail as there is quite a bit of room back there even with the light assembly. I can access the unit very quickly through the removable light cover (3 min). The CDT unit this far appears to be sturdy and it looks pretty good. I went with the CDT unit over another brand CF tail because of the street/race interchangeable option.
