Checa hurting?

With the SBK 1199's inhaling through 50mm intake restrictors, it won't matter if he's in tip-top condition for the race. The Duc's will be left for dead on Monza's straights. SBK is so biased against Ducati now for their previous successes (now that the Spaniards own the series instead of the Flammini brothers), it will take a long time for them to be competitive against the inline- and v-fours again. Sadly.

Parts of that are true; the 1199 will be left for dead on the straights, just like the 1198 was. Monza is a horsepower track, so the more cylinders the better.

Dorna has nothing to do with the current rules, they were all put in place by the Flamminis. Dorna changed nothing in the rules package for this year, so no reason to blame the Spaniards.

Good point. Although we don't know how long Dorna has been in negotiations to take over SBK and what influence they have exerted over current rules.

There is no question the tech regs for the last 2 years have been slanted towards the inline- and v-fours, just as they were for most of the late 90's and most of the 2000's for the twins. When was the last time a new Ducati SBK platform had such a dismal introduction? The 996/998, 999 and 1098/1198 were all wildly successful from their introductions. Perhaps too successful and now they are paying for that with tech regs hindering their competitiveness.

no it's just that as always , the measures swung too much to the other side.. and it takes a procedure of multiple races to change these regs... they just cant tweak it week by week.. if they still ran the 1198 , the would have lost the 6kg by now but as it is a new bike, they watch and learn, as Corse does and as we do...

i'm much more concerned by the brightest minds all being stuck on that Moby .... in GP and the pani not getting the best it can get... and as we all now hear it coming from Ducati top that it s a reat bike but frickle to set up, the brightest minds are what it takes to get competitive.. on a fickle machine, mm 's and electronics count the more.. and the A-team is somewhere else.. trying to figure out how a alu frame works...
