Does anyone know how to check a check engine light without going to the dealer to have them plug in their DDS?

I don't have a light on, but I wanted to ask for my own sake.

I read a post on 899 forum, not sure if the same trick works for the 1199-1299 ?

This is what the person stated,

" Check engine light on with engine running.

1) Press bottom button on left handlebar- holding for a few seconds.
Dash will change, you will see "ERR" displayed.

2) Hit turn signal cancel button, a word will be displayed that indicates the area of the fault.

Not tested it myself.

If true will be great and HUGE time saver for those who haven't got the time to have to drag bike to dealers everytime it happens.

Pull the connector off the MAP sensor left side electrical box in front of you, it will throw the ight on.
