I got the tank protection kit for the 1199 pani @$19.

Tho similar to 3m film the good thing about this film is it can be removed and reapplied 5 minutes or six months after install.

1199 Panigale, The Tankslapper

I've been using 3m film for many years, would buy the uncut film and just make pieces as needed.
Heard about tankslapper from a friend and put some on my rsv4.

Install is easy but take your time with it. You absolutely want to get the squeegee they offer, tho a credit card will work, the squee is better.

Applying: clean the tank thoroughly rinse off with water to get any lint off. Make a mixture of 30% alchohol 70% water spray on the tank, then pull the tank piece off the paper and spray the back of the film. Place the film where you want it then slowly work out from the center squeegeeing the water and bubbles as you go. You'll probably have to lift areas and reapply as you go, spray more water/etoh to keep everything wet, take your time. The film is quite flexible (the sides of the tank are tough because of the compound curves.

I'd take a pic but you wouldn't be able to see it ;)

got it too and i love it.

i bought the whole 3M kit... the install can be a pain in the rear at some geometries (tank/knee area) but i think it's definately worth it. here's some sneak prev.>

not finally cleaned from the water (I used the baby shampoo solution, not the alcohol)

worth every $

I used the tankslapper brand and it came out fine - I did rush a bit and got some small bubbles - definitely best to take your time and keep spraying.

if it's the tankslapper film you can lift, wet the area and re-squeegee out the bubbles.

If you got the 3M version once it's down and dried/stuck (approx an hour or two) you can't lift and reapply. The other tankslapper brand I agree you can reapply as many times as you want.

Use the shampoo solution for general application but for the hard to stick down edges switch to the alcohol solution as the alcohol evaporates far quicker and helps adhesion.

I should've been more clear. tankslapper kits use a combination of 3m film and tankslapper film(not sure why they do it that way). The 3m film once applied and sets can't be re done, the tankslapper film can be removed and reapplied.

Am I right in thinking that the 3M stuff will still peel off at a later date with help from a hot air blower, but just not be reusable. So that a damaged bit can be replaced?

Yes, that's exactly right it peels off without difficulty, just can't reuse. I'd do it on places where the film got damaged, aged after having been in place for a year or two. DOn't really need a heat gun, just pull gentlly. I spray a little water on the underside of the film as I pull off but that's probably not needed either.

I did some research and read a lot of really good things about a film called
Avery Nano Fusion.
I ordered the full body kit and am having it installed on my Tri on wed.
I will report back on how it looks and overall quality etc.
