Hi Guys, i got a comfort seat as a gift and it looks nice on the bike but its allot firmer and a bit taller than the stock one. With those of you that have one, did it get softer over time/use?
Currently, my stock one is softer but maybe because its ive put 6k miles on it already, thoughts??

While out riding today, I had a thought about this very question. My comfort seat is fantastic. I was a bit concerned the first time I saw it, but it is a lot better than stock! I liked it being thicker because I'm 6'3" and needed some height.

I have for V4 both comfort seat and racing seat. The racing seat is actually bit softer than the comfort seat. My comfort seat did not soften much in few thousand kilometers. In my opinion Ducati’s racing seat is more comfortable. I wonder if they have made some kind of mistake with the material specs..

Naw - Ducati does not make mistakes. They use plastic water and oil pump gears and generators that shed teeth on purpose : )
No doubt, Ducati doesn’t make any mistakes haha

Check out the Corbin seat for the V4, it’s beautiful and if it’s as comfy and functional as theirs was for my R6 it’s well worth it.

Stock seat it’s softer than comfort? I don’t think so.I trow my stock seat in garbage.I got two seats DP race and comfort if I go out for few hours I put race seat on.if it’s all day riding definitely comfort

Stock seat’s foam material is softer than comfort seat’s foam. But stock seat’s foam is thinner so it bottoms out much easier. To me the comfort seat’s foam is bit too firm, but race seat’s foam is good. And race seat is also same 20 mm higher than comfort seat. This is Ducati’s description of the racing seat. Comfort is advertised and it is listed in accessories under touring;) So I don’t think it is really meant for actual racing or track applications, maybe more for sporty looks. But it is grippy.

Racing seat in technical fabric.
Comfort is guaranteed thanks to the neoprene. Excellent grip is guaranteed by the covering and shape, designed to maximise rider stability. An accessory made with the highest quality materials, which offers unprecedented riding comfort and gives the bike an even sportier look.

You guys are doin it all wrong! Gimme some fiberglass with just enough foam that so I can get traction

If I’m gonna be riding for hours I let my imaginary supermodel girlfriend drive me in her imagined C63 AMG while I navigate and take care of the play list

Sublime anyone?

your zen is on point haha

I was at the dealer today, and noticed that the Race seat is more padded than my "comfort seat." It also has a thin neoprene-like covering. My Comfort seat looks about the same but it has a soft fabric covering. The Race seat feels thicker too. It honestly looks more comfortable than the "comfort" seat!

Comfort seat is taller, but more comfortable? No way! Way too hard. Perineum pressure produces numbness on long rides. Why can‘t Ducati produce an OEM seat that works? 1098? No! 1299? No! V4? No! Aprilia manages it ok!

I am in the process of going from the stock V2 seat to a comfort.

For all reference purposes, I have had a chance to sit on both comfort and race seat, same bike, same place, back to back. For what is worth, it is not only the padding that is different between all these, but it is the shape (read slope) of the seat as well.

If you look at the seats from the side you will notice how the stock seat just point downward and makes you slide (even more) onto the tank than desired.

The comfort seat "flattens" out a bit and makes you not slide down as easily. Kind of like a V4 seat. Which I also think is a perfect seating position personally. But that is comparing apples to oranges, so I digress.

Then after the comfort seat I put the race seat on and although somewhat similar shape to it, the padding was non existent and was like beef jerky rough on the edges.

I tend to and find myself pushing myself off the tank more than desired within a ride. Considering all these variables play like a domino, soon you notice your wrists tend to get numb, maybe your hip/knee needs to pop back out and so on and so forth...

Just as note, the V2 comfort and race seats might be quite different to V4 comfort and race seats. What you describe for V2 race seat makes total sense to me.

The V4 race seat being as high as V4 comfort seat, but made. Using softer softer foam is very counter intuitive to me. But that how it is, I have both V4 seats (+original stock seat). The race seat has grippier surface material, which makes sense again. Go figure..
