So as the title reads, i'm coming from an '11 Yamaha R1. After test riding the EBR1190rx and the Ducati 1199 Panigale S, I fell in love with the 1199. Which has caused me to put my r1 up for sale.

So my question is, what should I look forward to with a new 1199?
Such maintenance issues or other quirks that may surround the bike.

I've read a lot on here so i'm somewhat familiar, however are there other things I should be on the look out for?

Overall I think you'll like the 1199 better. The Panigale has it's quirks but if you can get past those (heat, vibration, etc, etc) I think you'll like it. Some people have had more issues with their 1199's than others. One reason I like the Panigale better than the R1 is the width of the bike. The R1 is way wider than the 1199. I could never get over that. In general I think the Panigale is a much better looking bike than the R1. However, expect to get worse gas mileage with the 1199. That was one thing that I liked better about the R1. Personally I haven't had many issues with my Panigale and I really like the bike. I like it a lot better than my R1. I hope you do to.

It's an amazing bike, hard core single minded, doesn't like slow stop go / traffic. The best bike I've ever owned, a few issues which are well documented particular on early models, many people have like myself zero problems. Remove Charcoal Canister No.1 issue

It is a bike which pushes you to gamble with your limits.
A License removal Or worst, life threatening machine.
Every ride is administering drug into your soul, it is addictive and no going back.
unless you sell it, trying to break the addiction like some but there is no one minute you stop thinking of it...the accelerating twin cylinder, rings in your mind constantly...
.......you'll be hooked for life.

product quality wise, there is no issue for me...

I switched from an 09 R1 when it got stolen and I got a 13 1199. Never looked back. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. Faster, more nimble, better looking....and like everyone has said, the smile is permanent. You'll be happy, and if you've got a good dealer, any issue that may come up will be handled quickly and professionally. That's been the case for me.

Every bike I've owned prior to my current one was a Yamaha. Yamaha makes a great machine but the "Passione Panigale" has exceeded my wildest expectations. I've met many good friends and my dealer never stops impressing. Enjoy your sexy Italian!

I have an 09 R1 and my 1199s. I don't ride either of them on the street any longer, just track so the heat thing is not an issue.

Straight away you will notice the power difference between the 2 bikes. The 1199 has a lot more power. It also has less refinement from a throttle mapping standpoint. If you thought that A mode on the R1 was aggressive and somewhat abrupt you will not like the 195 Hi mode on the 1199.

For me the bikes are both very fun because you have to ride them differently to get the most out of them. They both can be stupid fast, especially in race trim.

you will need to adjust your riding style to fit the Torque and the engine brake of the 1199, have a dedicated Ducati master tech at your disposal, trust me, you need one, this is my 2nd Pani and i had 13 recalls/repairs, but if you can live with that, it is quite a fun thing to do

I agree with all the previous positives 100 percent, but one very important plus was left un said, these bikes also seperate you from the herd, and make you instantly COOL.

Depends on what crowd you are in, i dont look so cool on the track when i get passed by them smaller bikes :D

Perhaps you shouldnt be on the track with your scooter... :D

My Scooter is exactly same as your scooter lol

but seriously, that is one of the draw back of running a nice fast bike with average skill set, yes i am average :D

other than that, the bike is suberb
