Hi Guys,

I bought a used 1199s recently and went for a long ride (3hrs or so) and encountered a strange problem with the dash. Two scratches appeared which then turned into cracks! The dash also had this 'fogging' problem I've heard of before this happened (moisure under the screen which disappeared during the ride). Has anyone every had this problem and is it a know issue with the 1199 dash? The bike is a 2013 make so its out of warranty.

I have exactly the same issue although mine cracked all by itself last winter.

It's cracked in 3 places, and nothing fell on it. I've not done anything about it because it would require a new dash, which isn't cheap and casts doubt on the mileage should you wish to sell it, as the new dash will be back to 0 miles - it's annoying, but it's not too bad.

Mine is a 2012 model, with full Ducati history and 14k miles.

I've been in contact with both the dealer and Ducati customer service. The dealer has made a submission to Ducati corporate for assistance so I'm hoping they come through and replace the dash. In the meantime a friend of mine with a 1299S also got some cracks and they are replacing his dash as its under warranty. Checked out some Panigales at the dealer workshop and found another 1199 base with cracks in the dash (not as bad as mine) so its seems to me a common fault.

Panigale to Ducati is about quantity not quality.
Still an awesome bike but you're about the 1500th person to have this issue that Ducati will vehemently deny as their fault.

Update: Dealer let me know that Ducati corporate have given the go ahead to replace my dashboard, Huzzah!

I just picked up a 12 tri colore with 2288 miles on it. The next day I rode to work. When I came out later that night the screen was cracked. I'm bringing to the ducati dealer in Houston to attempt a good will. Fingers crossed

Has there been anything done by ducati regarding this ie. recall or fix

I don't think there is anything official about the faulty screens although I know of two friends (1199 base and 1299S) who had similar problems replaced under warranty. Just got mine back today after they installed the new dash. Zero klms on the clock. Also put a screen protector on just in case.

Yes, first thing I did when I got my Panigale was put a screen protector film on it. Mainly because dash can scratch easily, but not sure if it will help protect from a crack.

Some folks had a fog (condensation) inside and replaced it under warranty.

Surely you could get replacement front cover, I had to get one for my r1 dash as it had melted slightly.

I was hoping but I've yet to see any reference to that being done.

My dash didn't crack but lost a row of pixels?
It was a warranty claim, (it would have cost over R20000.00) to replace +- 2000USD
I hope it does not crack now, could it be heat build up under or in the fairing ?

Well Bike II is getting MM electronics, Deutsch connectors, MS22759 MS wiring. After building the bike I wanted, I love the bike more every time I get on it. The only thing I left stock on the bike was the electronics and electrical components and that is the only area I have ever had any problems. This board is full of people with issues related to something electrical. I have been building aerospace mil spec electronic assemblies for years and can say with confidence that the electrical components that Ducati uses are maybe a notch above whats in a Chinese toaster. Straight garbage. If anyone is interested in looking at "how its done" I recommend this site.

What a read. Best link posted here in awhile. Wiring harnesses aren't as intimidating as I thought they were.
