Who has it and what is your take? How does it know you crossed the finish? Do you need to set up a beacon?

Does it show laptimes on your dash or do you need to hook it up to a computer? Would be annoying if you have to take off your tail just to get to it each time (track fairings).

Thanks!

I have it and you need to flash the highlight the first time you cross the finish line (or another spot you like) and every time you cross it you get the lap time on your dash for few second. Then you can preview them on the dash or download on your laptop, review them along with many other parameters, temperatures, gear, speed, traction control, GPS map etc.

Very Cool gadget!

I am actually thinking of just getting the sensor, but I am not sure where to source it.

It is a pretty cool unit, but not accurate always. See this thread:

One more suggestion is to use an apex as your set point. The start finish straight isn't ideal since it might not trigger every time depending on where on the track you are. I use turn 4 at thunderhill and turn 10 at laguna and it never failed me.
If you do get the GPS unit, spend the extra little and get the DDA unit also. You can either look at it later or even use a video overlay with it. I usually put it under the seat, makes it easier to remove.
The bikes have the wiring already, but mine was too short (base 1199). I had to splice the wire and extend them.
Hope this helps.

I have it and use it. Great piece of kit, easy to use too. Basic data but very helpful for setting up the bike.

Here are some pics of my install. GPS receiver under the screen with the USB connection under the seat. Very easy to download.

I have the base model and all the wiring was in place and ready to go. Just need to remove the wiring caps and plug it in.

there is an extension wire that should come with the kit.

Anyone know if this stuff is going to swap over to the 1299?

I know the kit part number for the DDA+ GPS kit is different for the 1299 and doesn't apply back to the 1199, so there's definitely something different. I'm 99% sure the dash shroud is different, so that might be the only reason, or it's possible there's something different in the electronics as well. Probably won't know that until we try one on a 1299.

this may be off, but do you need some ducati software to download any data logging off the machine, and im guessing the hook up is under the seat ? thanks

Yes, you can download it from the software company site. Just google "dda+ software"

The red plug goes into the connector under the passenger seat. And it needs to be activated on the dash.
