So like many of you I am no going to pay 5k or 3.4k for an exhaust that is a (oh it will fit the 1299) 1199 designed exhaust. Our 1299's were designed with a 10mm larger manifold and different mufflers for a reason. A company does not spend the money to retool exhaust and manifolds for zero benefit. With this reasoning I can't understand the money Akrapovic and Termignoni charge for their exhaust. If the manifold didnt make a difference then WSB rider Davies bike would not be packing a 70mm manifold. Yes weight savings is nice but I am not paying 3.5k for 10 pound savings.

If anyone here has a different opinion please post.

Thank you in advance.

$2000 for 10lb savings though, that's reasonable, with significantly improved performance. The 1299 manifold is dimensionally the same as the Akrapovic so swapping those pipes will net another 2.5lbs. The main weight is in the mufflers.

I cannot overemphasize how much of a performance difference the Termignoni slip-ons have made, and you can't attribute that to the 10lb weight savings.

But then there are manifolds like the Termignoni SBK, which are longer than stock. Big money, incremental gains.

I PM'd another member who has done the same. Which Termingoni slips on's did you buy?

I'm assuming you knew the cost of the akra before you bought the bike. I personally think 5k is a joke for that exhaust. If you want a full system you are gonna pay. There are other options, but im not a fan. You really cant compare your 1299 to a wsb spec bike , you are looking at 10k for the headers alone. Do you really need a full exhaust?

BellissiMoto - Termignoni Exhaust for the Panigale 1199 1299 899

the $5k Akra pipes are dimensionally no different than stock, if I understand correctly; they just weigh less. That's why the $3700 Akra slip-ons also use the same up-map as the full system. And then this system isn't any different physically than the 1199 Akra, except for no up-map and different price.

But there is a point here - I'm sure someone will make even larger/wider pipes that are tuned just for the 1299's extra displacement. Even the latest SBK exhaust being run by Davies and Giugliano wouldn't be fully optimum on the 1299 - they're at 1198cc.

I got the new Akropovic slip ons with the up map (not cheap) thinking that getting rid of the cats would really help smooth out the low throttle response etc.. and it didn't help at all. My previous 2011 ZX10R would spank it on the straights! there has to be something wrong with either thru ECU or some other electrical issue.. it still will run about a half second when you chop the throttle while idling down to a slow corner also.

It still runs rough and sputters and doesn't pull as hard as it should in the los to midrange ... ‎Ducati factory has no idea and evidently can't fix it. The dealer has gone out of their way to try to get it running right and even installed the Racing EVO map and it still does not pull like it should.
it runs better than it did but I was really let down when I got it on the track... you really can't tell much on the street
I ran it at Texas World Speedway last Saturday and I had a guy on. A GSXR 1000 run off and leave me on the straight. The 1299 should have a LOT more power and torque than a basically stock Gixxer. ;n I'm pretty bummed. Will be getting it dynoed this weekend and see how its doing on AFR and hp etc. in my situation the $3500 akropovic slip one did not help. It looks pretty but no real help power wise...

That's strange, you should spank any GSXR.

definitely something off. I walked an R1M with a Graves(?) exhaust while I was stock during a highway roll-on, and with the Termignoni slip-ons I have significantly more pulling power and top end.

I offered the 1299 exhaust mod to one other member on here already (no de-cat though) and I am currently testing the 1299 system on my 1199.

Based on Tj99's statement that the 1299 cans are already very advanced, I think the mod to the price of 1/10 of the akra might do the trick for a few ... ;)

So, how much would you pay for a full system Akrapovic? I'm pretty sure there will be a few used examples around once some of us are issued with prohibition notices by the local noise abatement police!

Do a PCV (recommended to add autotune and ignition modules) and your woes will be sorted. :D

not sure what point you're trying to make, other than that the 1299 (obviously) makes more power? You're showing that all else being equal, the 1299 MOTOR makes 10 more horsepower. Given the increased displacement, I'm somewhat not surprised.

What I was saying is that if you dynoed a full Akra on a 1299 (which yielded 191hp), and then took the SAME bike with stock manifold pipes but with the SAME Akra cans as on the full system, you should also see 191hp...because the stock 1299 pipes are dimensionally the same as the Akra system whose dyno plots you are quoting - obviously the flapper valve and 1299 stock cans are different, as well as the stock pipes being 2.5lbs heavier. But to the exhaust gases inside the pipes, they look exactly the same. Same pathway, same dimensions, same volume.

you are saying alot of things, but until someone actually does that, and we have reason i will still believe the Akra system is better

Easy fix, leave the stock system on. It already has plenty of power.
