I had an unfortunate incident last Friday and T-boned a deer on the way to Ducati in the Rockies ride. Thought I would post a couple of pictures, but the bike fared well considering.... No injuries, hit deer square at 35-40mph, deer killed and bike never went down. Headshook, then righted itself and pulled over and stopped. Exciting! :(

Estimates begin.

Sorry to hear man, but very happy that it went down the way it did. Deer strikes can be deadly.

Here's to getting back on the road quickly.

On the upside, you've bagged more bucks than some hunters I know ;)

You are the second guy on here to hit a deer and live to tell the tale

Glad you are ok

Mars bar to who remembers the last one

Good thing you were at 30-40mph and amazing that nothing happened to you, except the bike. Congratulations! Someone above must have been watching over you!

Yes, I am hoping the bike will not be a total. The whole "bike is still new and you only want to give 80% of it's value" conversation would be depressing.

On the bright side, I took the bike home and switched to the Multistrada and went to the event anyway. It was a great time in Ouray, CO and the roads and views are amazing!

Glad to see that only the bike took a hit. Deer are everywhere where I live and I figure it's just a matter of time until I hit one. I've had a few near misses, despite not riding at dusk or dawn.

I really hate deer. They're pretty and all, but due to overpopulation they're a bad problem.

It's just that they're so dumb with a horrible sense of timing. Like anything else, there are some exceptions. Last year while traveling home from a trackday, I came across a huge buck on the highway at night in the middle of the road but he turned around lucky for all of us (1199R and F150 Ford).

+3 for tough Ducatis! I've gone down twice and was surprised at the minor damage relatively speaking.

I live pretty close to a mountain and I almost hit one on my way home from dinner at about 9PM. However, I wasn't on my HD and was driving my BMW 3. I don't think I would fair well if I hit one on my HD.

I'm glad you didn't get hurt except the bike. You can always buy a new bike or replace the parts. So, safe riding and have fun!

.... not Cecil's second cousin from the left side? How much grief can the animal kingdom take? Danny was such a great teenager, he en deared himself to everybody.

That's a pretty good outcome considering!
Glad youre okay!
Poor deer but at least it wouldn't have felt it at that speed.

Wow! Thats one of my bigest fears when riding in the mountains, glad to see that you came out unscathed, good luck with the insurance company and the bike repair
