Hi guys, some of my not ducati owner friends informed me that 1199 is facing quality problems regarding oil spoil in the uper side of our engine and that causes to start dropping oil everywere. is that true?? did any of you face that ?

Also i cant find a good chain oil to use, i use castrol and i can hear the chain working or not being efficient.
Any one to recomend chain oil brand and model please so i can use

From my limited experience a lot of what you'll hear from non-Ducati owners will be heckling because they are haters...

i have one, what do you mean dont get one?

Info i need if someone knows something, thats all

i have an oil "issue" don't know what exactly the reason is, so i won't freak out here.

as soon as i know more i will keep you guys posted.

(what happened: i did an oil change (less than 3.5 liters), didn't let the bike run, went to the track the next day, fired up the bike, it smoked, let it run for a while, seemed fine, did 2 sessions - nothing, after the 3rd session i had oil on the heat shield coming from (around) the rear cylinder (not 100% sure)... did not ride it ever since. dealer has it now.)

Did you change the type of oil you are using????

No oil problems on my base. Burned (or more likely just blew it out the exhaust as rings were being seated) a bit before 1st service and about a 1/2 quart up to about 3500 mi.
Changed oil/filter at 3500 and no visible loss until 7500 mi service a couple weeks ago.

For chain lube, just about any well-known brand made for the purpose will do. I've used Motul, Regina, PJ-1, etc. (you name it). Wouldn't be able to swear to detecting any difference between 'em.
Just clean your chain and sprocket every couple of weeks (I use a rag dipped in Kerosene, or sometimes, sprayed with WD40) to wipe all the accumulated road grime off. Then spray-on the chain lube and, for wax-type, let it dry overnight.
Just make sure you use one rated compatible with O-ring chains and you'll be fine. You don't need to over-think this. Your local shop can point you in the right direction.

Valve cover on the vertical jug, easy fix under warranty. Happened to me twice, not easy to spot where it's from and curiously enough it did that only at the track. I could go street riding the next day and it wouldn't leak.

See whats funny is I OWN TWO 1199's. I've got a combined 10,000 miles or so on both and the bike is awful. Constant problems left and right. I'm not hater. I'm a true owner who has blown $60,000 on .....

Well your just foolish then . You hate the bike so you buy another one . What a mistake.
You and your mate Mark should just cut your losses and just move on I'm sure there is a bike out there for you .
Be a little more adult about the issues .
Good luck .

Wow I hope I made the right decision putting deposit on the R to be delivered in 3 weeks - hopefully all the bugs will be ironed out lol. Man if I wasnt so determined to own one of these gorgeous beast; from reading of all the issues I would def not buy one. The fact I have a bit of common sense, a little mechanical brain power and a very informative Forum I am still going ahead and will deal with every issue if anything arises point by point. Does scare me I am about to spend 46k (yep they are that exe here in OZ!!) on a flagship new breed Ducati, buy hey what the hell its money and will look awesome even on the stands :) (hopefully will ride awesome on the track!!)
BK

Come on, it's the internet!

The bike's a blast to own and ride, Ducati honours the warranty without haggling, enjoy!

Not to worry, its an awesome bike. Mine got over 4K on the clock without any issues and it seems to run better the more I ride it. It's just a blast to ride :D
