Now that the 1199 is second on the list, does the site name change to 1299?

LOL

good thinking, has already been addressed and will be changed soon

To ...panigale.... .com

Since there will be a 1399 in 2017/18 and that would require another change... ;)

Nice. I would think they would just use the year prefix to Panigale, Panigale S, Panigale R from now on as they are gonna hit the end of race legal numbers

The next superbike from Ducati will be a 1099, a total ground up design :D

You might be more correct than one might assume. They are really pushing the limits of a twin with 1285cc displacement. Oversquare engines have tradeoffs that sooner or later must be addressed.

I see a lot of people mentioning that the 1299 is an oversquare engine and usually in a negative aspect. This is why most thought that the increased displacement would be gained through stroke and not bore.

Now my question is what is so bad about an oversquare engine? My limited mechanical knowledge is that they have increased longevity but sacrifice fuel mileage and emissions (which I'm perfectly fine with).

The astute observer will notice the HTML has already changed (the window frame title, i.e. <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>) is already set to "Ducati 1299 Forum" from the main page.

At this point it's only a matter of time before the graphics are updated and a new domain name dropped in (perhaps with ducati1199.com redirecting to ducati1299.com).

Oh, hey, look! Early Sunday morning maintenance scheduled! ;-)

.. and I should have mentioned that it would be a V4 and not a twin.

It would be about time! Now THAT would get me buying another new Ducati!

It would be about time, I've been saying they should do this after the 1199 runs it's cycle since 2012.

Between the 1299 and 899 is the middle child, the 1199.

I don't see the 1299 as being particularly ground breaking. Its successor I hope would be a generational leap. Not the step forward the 1299 is.

I was shocked to see they got it by a 4mm bore increase, as opposed to adding it to the stroke. That would have helped the mid range dip too. With a 60mm stroke the rod center to center length should be at least double that for a 2 to 1 rod to stroke ratio, they might be out of room with deck height, ring stack, rod journel diameter ect. They would have to shorten the rod, and that is never acceptable for anything but drag race engines, and roto tillers.

Great job Duc, Stw, Xbox and PHL. No glitch logging in and checking out the site after the update. Top notch fellas.
