Design Defect on Mirror Mount?

So...with about 470 miles on my bike...my left side mirror starts shaking...I look down and see that one of the mounting screws is gone. I pull to the side of the highway and remove the other screw and luckily am just able to squeeze the mirror into my backpack...not sure what I would have done if I didn't have a backpack.

I was about 50 miles from my dealer, so I rode straight there to have them fix it. They said I was the second person to have this problem and that they think there may be a design defect...when threaded the screws seem to have too much space and seem to wobble. Anyway they put some Loc-tite on them and remounted the mirror...hopefully it will stay put.

Anyone else have this problem?

I only have 150 miles on bike but the mirrors were shaking upon first start up at dealer. I'll take a closer look to make sure they don't fall out.

Thanks,

Chris

The problem is that the robotic assembly machine utilized by Ducati to attach and bolt on the mirrors was the same machine that BMW used to torque the con-rod bolts.

Sorry.

:D

Riding some rough roads Thursday I noticed my left mirror shaking a bit too much, pulled over and tightened. No issue now, but will keep an eye on it. I also had the same issue with my 1198s when new.

Whatever dude, v twins vibrate more than I-4s so fasteners tend to loosen, up to you whether you wanna loctite when they come loose or complain about the dealer/factory poor pdi, me I'll loctite and save the complainin for other things.

Why the .... should one have to bust out the Loctite and perform their own PDI when they paid the dealer hundreds of dollars to do it? It's not a Hyosung FFS!
