moore, ok
So I starting to have the no right turn blinker issue myself. called AMS Ducati, as people have said in other posts, the fix is a harness replacement. the problem is heat related as ducati put the flashers relays in a enclosed space which makes the flashers relays fail/burn up. so weather you have this problem or not, don't wait, it'll only get worse with temps and time till it fails. I should be making a trip to dallas on monday to get this fixed. they said it should take less than an hour.

Not being a smart ... here..but you know they are closed on Mondays?? Right??

No reason to start a new thread ...

Anyway, changing the wiring harness will not change the position of the relays, and besides this, the up-down switch which also fails has nothing to do with any relay. IMHO the nature of the failure of the left-hand switch controls is not related with the relays. It most probably has something to do with the sensing of the switches by the ECU, and DUCATI is correcting this with some active or pasive components included in the new harness.

The added electronic components are surely included in newer revisions of the dash. TSB-881 reads:

• INVOLVED BIKES
We would like to inform you that the instrument panel hardware has been modified
starting from the frame serial numbers listed in the table below in order to prevent
this possible malfunction. Only the bikes having an older serial number could require
the installation of the additional wiring.

Question

I had only my right front signal go out a week ago, but the rear was fine. I figured when I connected them after the track I didn't connect it well enough. Could this have been a problem of the relay?

unfortunately, the dealer here closed up shop last January.

Yeah it would..... Are they your closest dealer???

It'll be interesting what gets changed out. I'll ask to see the old parts and try and take pictures of the removed component(s).

Sure, that will be interesting. Please post info regarding the removed components, that will clear a lot of doubts.

Mine fails after the bike gets hotter as well. One day I could not do anything other than hit the left turn signal switch. Which after doing so would not turn off. Riding modes, gone. Could not scroll up or down. No high beams. So the fix is to have the dash replaced?

Really? Some of you even commented on my post a week ago. I told you SB881 fixed this problem. This topic is getting as bad as the "heat issue".

Yup, SB881 fixes the issue. I dropped my bike off and the shop manager new exactly my symptoms without me telling him (no right blinker, no up arrow, and left blinker won't turn off when it's hot). Installed replacement harness per SB.

^this

I'm curious myself as to what was changed. Dealer has ordered a new harness and told me to expect it in a few days. Without being able to do any testing I'm guessing the old harness had some parasitic capacitance causing interferance with the can buss. New harness with additional shielding can fix and/or they can do better termination back on the ECU (i.e. "newer units").

It's been a minor annoyance for me. But definitely piqued my interest as to the cause.

WTF? As gman74 said this is becoming the new conspiracy theory of the week.

This is my 4th post about it confirming that the new wiring harness of TSB 881 solved the problem. I experienced that exact same problems as stated above by elitesoldier357, then read about the TSB 881 on this forum. About 2 weeks ago, my dealer initially was going to order a new dash, and mine was the first one they had seen with the problem. I told them about TSB 881 and sure enough he found it in their system. They ordered 5 of the harnesses in anticipation of other owners having the problem and mine was installed when they arrived 3 days later. I have now put over 600 miles on the bike and not once has any problem with the left controls occurred, and it is now 90+ degrees everyday in FL. The problem occured about 70% of the time I rode the bike before in even cooler temps.

The rest of you questioning TSB 881 better put your tin foil hats back on so the government can't read your mind...

Same here, instant fix

update: here is the harness that gets added in, nothing else, and nothing gets removed. it is just added between the left control and the display, notice the little electronic box that gets added. don't know what it is, but it has 3 leads that go to it. this was the one they installed on my bike, took a half hour. everything works great again!

Thanks for posting !!!

If nothing gets removed, they are adding electronic components (included in the little black box) between the left-hand controls and the ECU located in the dashboard. The function of these components is already included in the newer revisions of the dashboard. They found a cheaper way to fix the problem with this "patch".
