I have been putting in some work on the bike lately. Just completely removed the evap, ais and side covers. As well as removed the exhaust for the full d170.
I found a leak on each valve cover. Nothing to crazy. On the rear I got to 11 NM out of 13 NM before two of the screws turned. I'll have to check the front later.
Is it worth just tightening them for now or should I order the gaskets and sealant. If I do that I might just do samco hoses while I'm here.
Only 800mi on thr bike. Do they all leak and some just havent seen it due all the covers or did I get a friday build lol.🤣 I'll be leaving the side covers off from now on.

I dont think they use a liquid gasket at the factory...but ive had a 1199 and 1299 and both had valve cover leaks before my first desmo on both bikes...during the desmo all the master ducati mechanics i have spoke to all use it on top and under the stock plastic gasket under the valve covers.

post desmo's i have had no leaks. Def leave the plastic covers off!

It looks like a combination of a rubber gasket and Threebond. I'm not sure of applying it to both sides of the gasket though. I've watched "master" techs do that when installing exhaust gaskets. I'd love to know what point in the master tech program they were taught to do that.

The screws usually back themselves out over time from all the vibration. I put loctite on my valve cover screws and they haven't leaked since.

Do you know the torque sequence? I have bolts drilled for safety wiring on the way as well. Gonna do Samco hoses while since I have to take the radiator off too.
