DP race seat

There are a few threads about this very issue but the gist of the seat is.

Planted, firm, more comfy than stock, raises height a bit.

Are you experiencing any heat issues btw when you ride?

Thanks! Somewhat new to the site and haven't seen those posts. As far as the heat issues go, not too bad even though I'm this far south. However, I don't do a lot of in-town riding. Mainly back roads and will soon use it about 80/20 track to road. Anyway, point is, It doesn't bother me that much while at speed.

No worries. It's a tight bunch and you hit on a bit of an inside joke. Besides, Gunny is easy to rattle these days. :)

Anyone installed the DP race seat? Thoughts?

Some have said it soaks up water like a sponge, some have applied a waterproof spray with success. If you have a short inseam you may have to tip-toe at stops.

I'm just going to apply some double-sided tape to my stock seat when I ride :D

I have the seat on my bike. It is about 1/2 inch thicker but much grippier than stock and more comfortable as well. It does help reduce the heat a little bit from stock. I would recommend purchase along with grippier foot pegs.

The grippy cover is great for the track, for me it raised the seat height too much so I cut mine down about and inch and now it's perfect.

Thanks for the info. Have the tech-spec tank pads and rizoma foot pegs until I change the rearsets.

Putting it on the track next weekend for the first time. Any other item recommendations?

Here's my story about the different seats...
I bought the comfort seat when I got my pani... I felt it put me higher up and my hand position was not the greatest as it seemed to push me forward and place pressure on my wrist. So I went to buy the race seat; did the same thing only it was slightly lower. Now... I just went ahead and took the stock seat and re-wrapped in a suede material (similar to the race seat) and what a f'ing difference. I sit more "in" the bike now and with better hand position as well as no pressure on my wrist. Also, because of the suede material on my stock seat I don't slide all over the place and jam "my boys" into the tank. :)
If I had to do it over again.. I would just reupholster the stock seat and be done with it. By the way. I got a race seat and comfort seat for sale... :)

Btw.. I'm 5'8" 170lbs with comparably long arms and legs for my height.

Sounds like you already have tank grip pads and grippier footpegs, those would have been my next 2 recommendations in terms of importance for the track. As far as other things to aid your riding for the track: Personally, I don't like the stock "slick" grips, I prefer a "gripper" grip for the track, it makes it easier to maintain a light touch on the bars and aids your steering precision. ProGrip 717's are my favorite. If your local shop doesn't have them, we have them on our web site here:
http://www.motospecialties.com/store.asp?store=ducatiomaha&level=type2&type=Superbike&type1=1199 Panigale&type2=Grips

I'd also recommend a tank pad for the back or your tank if you don't already have one, otherwise the moving around on the bike will eventually scuff up the paint on the back of the tank. That's really about it as far as things I'd do for personal riding setup. Then everthing else is just making sure you have the bike protected with sliders in case you take a little pavement surf. Front axle sliders, bar end sliders, engine case sliders, swingwarm sliders are the most common, and there's even a set of "frame" sliders for the Panigale now.

I have a DP race seat and DP carbon heel guards for sale if anyone needs. Will do $250 for both if interested.tx

I'm still not convinced with the height of the race seat, the comfort seat for me would be way too much! I like the DP logo on the Race seat though, may re-cover the standard seat with the race seat fabric...
