My battery lon my 2019 v4s let go the other day and has taken out my dash with it bike is 7-8 months old and only done 1700kay., after taking out battery i noticed it was swallon so i called my dealer and had bike taken to them for them to go over it. Got the phone call today that there not covering it under warranty and i would be up for $1700 plus a new battery. Get this all because bike had termi slip ons and the upmap. Which mind u was installed on the bike byba performace motorcycle shop..
 
Thanks for letting me know, my dealer is offering a battery warranty, (If it fails its replaced just that simple) so im gonna get this

Yeah it seems when the battery has failed its shorted out dash. Now they want to charge me $1700 for new dash. Plus the new lithium battery
Bike was running warming it up. Then it started to break down then it stalled and dash was lost. Can hear fuel pump going but no dash. Bikes only 7-8 months old with only $1700kays
 
When I bought my '20 V4S a few weeks ago, they explicitly warned me against using anything other than the Akra systems Ducati sells as they will negate the warranty if you use anything else. Basically, anything not certified by Ducati. The slipons would be tough for them to say as the cause of the electrical issue, but a non supported map, they will probably win a court case on that(not that you were going there).

I was never told that, termi have been part of ducati as long as i can remember. So not like its a backyard brand.

damn dude, $1,700?? Idk. Motorcycling isn’t supposed to be this expensive. You think anyones on the Yamaha/Honda/triumph etc forums crying abt the same issues we are over here?

someone told me I’m going to have to start paying my service department rent with as much as it’s in the shop, but I think what I really need is another Ducati so I can just ride them back and forth to the service center for work
 
How abt put the bike back to stock and either take it back there or to your other “local” Ducati dealership so it can be carried out under warranty

Then you have a ...... dealer who only wants to rake their customers over the coals every chance they can..... The second they said that I would've walked out. I've done all my own aftermarket installs (akra system that I didn't buy through DP, rapid bike evo/quickshifter/blipper, tune boy CC flash, rear sets, sprockets, etc...), my dealer doesn't bat an eye. Its on a manufacturer/dealer to prove that a failure was caused by an aftermarket part/flash/non certified services, per the moss magnuson act, so its unlikely they would win in court. If I were the OP I would find a new dealer.
 
Yes, you are protected and can mod your bike as you see fit... but there are many many cases of software messing up computers. Many cases. And a good lawyer would use all of them to make their case and win. In which case, that $1700 dash just became $1700 + personal attorney fees + Ducati's attorney fees.

I won't argue it further as we all have our thoughts on the subject, I was just stating mine for this instance.

If the UP Map device allows for returning to stock and it can be done with a wiped out dash, I would do that and try another dealer. Though the current dealer has already logged the VIN and dash issue with Duc and it may be a dead end anyway

The Street Triple 765 when it came out had issues with the TFT. Required complete replacement.
My '19 BMW R1250GS has leaking front calipers. Been waiting 4 months for replacements

They all have their problems
