On a Ducati 1199R how do you match the engine number to the vin number? Can you? If you want to buy an 1199R and want to make sure the engine is original and matches the front monocoque frame Vin #?

Anyone knows? Perhaps the Engine # can be decoded? Anyone has that info?

Thank you!

Not sure if this helps

Maybe you can try and contact Ducati NA and ask them to provide you with engine number that was paired with the frame of the bike you are looking to buy, IF they are willing to share this info with you!

good idea!

I have a bike with an R motor in an S frame , I have been told by people at the track that the engine has to be rebuilt at 10,000 km new pistons rings etc is there any truth to these claims ?

thats the recommended rebuild milelage for a fully tracked motor, 10,000 km. Sounds about right, my 1199 engines seems to go around then. But I usually find a used engine since its cheaper then a full rebuild.
