Hi, please can someone help advise how to fix this fault? The horizontal MAP sensor has been replaced but the bike is still showing this error when plugged into diagnostics.

LOL says the guy holding the Texa. Did you test the circuit against the schematic with a meter? Did you test the MS itself? I know it’s new but? The 99s are very simple from an electrical perspective.

I took it to a local garage (not Ducati) who plugged their diagnostics device into the rear of the bike. He cleared the fault, restarted the bike but the fault still remains. Do you know how to rectify this?

Well you’re going to have to start with what I initially wrote. You will have to verify the part is indeed good (swap it with the VMS and see what that looks like then you will have to with a meter troubleshoot the wiring harness.

With a Texa you should be able to see the value the sensor is putting out in real time. You can compare it to the other MAP sensor to verify it’s working.

That’s a pretty powerful diagnostic tool you aren’t using.

LOL That was kind of my point in the first place

I really thought this forum was going to be helpful but all that’s happened is I’ve been told by @endodoc to carry out test without actually answering my question! No .... I need to test it to find the fault, I was asking to see if someone had experienced this before and/or knew the answer.

I told him exactly what to do, twice.

Lol, Endo I know you are trying to help but this is not a guy who cant put on a valve stem cap, he was switched on enough to get it plugged it into a Texa and come to the Ducati forum for some DIY help. Clearly (like me) he's just not at your level on the 99's so maybe take that into consideration?

Every forum is littered with threads like this one. Someone makes post giving an absolute minimum amount of information and expects to be spoon fed an answer which will instantly solve the problem.

All anyone can reasonably do is offer troubleshooting advice. Anything else is a guess.

The quickest way to check if the sensor is working is to hook it up to the diagnostic tool (the Texa from the first post) and read the sensor's value when the bike is running and go from there.

Dudes, the initial post states quite clearly “can someone advise how to fix this” I fail to understand how anyone is supposed to answer your question when you haven’t carried out some basic tests to eliminate some things. You asked if someone “knew the answer” well since it could be a multitude of things causing this particular diagnostic platform to display this reading I Would say, no. So let’s all hold hands and sing for a bit.

Does the bike exhibit issues that would cause you to believe that you have a MAP sensor issue? If yes, move to troubleshooting. If no then you have to suspect the TEXA. Is there really a problem with the bike? Or did you just get an error on the scanner? The MAP sensors H/V, side stand switch, water temp, air temp, QS and the O2 sensors are all inter-related on that 5v circuit. Any one of these components could be causing an issue with the others. Then there are the physical electrical connectors for all these components, the wiring, the physical connectors and connections to the ECU plugs, something in the ECU itself etc.

I thought that fancy TEXA was supposed to pinpoint what the error was via a scan, brew you a latte, and blow you while it fixes all that. Anyhow, you didn’t go into any details on your first post on the bike itself so I posted what anyone else is going to post. Sorry I just didn’t fire you an absolute “this is exactly what to do” like if you posted “hey, it hurts every time I hit my head with a hammer, what should I do?” And, I’m out.

There are 2 map sensors on the left side of bike. Remove left hand fairing and replace the one that is more to the rear of bike. You do not need to remove the tank but will need to undo the panel that holds some of the electronics. I would suggest not buying the ones made in China. They will work but the range is not in spec. Germban is one that works for half of oem cost. It's most likely the sensor itself.

So, what in saying is that my guess is the non ducati garage replaced the one in the front thinking that is for the horizontal one since it's closer. But they are backwards to what you would assume. The sensor to the front is for vertical cyl and the sensor to rear is for horizontal cyl. Can swap senors and see if fault moves as an additional trouble shooting step.
