Hiya im running in my 1299 at thr moment .only done 50 miles and in finding it has a dead spot low down in rpm and when changing up quick I sometimes get a pop from the exhaust. its been fitted with race akrapovics and remapped by the dealer.they say its acting normal as the bike has to bed in. is this correct ?????.
whats it like with standard exhaust to you get the same trouble from new.

cheers nuts n bolts

The pop is normal, it's unburnt fuel ,probably running too lean. Most on here like the sound of the pop but if you get a fuel management sytem like RapidBike or Tune boytoy and maybe a dyno tunning, you can get this smoothed out and get rid of the pop....

I think "yes," but conditional with the addition to the aftermarket duel management systems such as the RB, TB and/ or Dyno

cheers im not bothered about the pop when changing up its really the dead spot as it makes the bike shoot off rather than a controlled progressive response. im not an old thudy duddy yet though.
would removing the so called non existant exhaust baffles improve the dead spot low down in revs ?

will take them out but at the moment the weather is rank.looks like its bad for the next week in the uk.

cheers

Just to clarify. The pop you are hearing is not from a lean condition. But rather unburnt fuel in the exhaust system from the quick shifter. Can happen more often under lower rpm on a mid to high throttle load. Example you are in 3rd gear running at say 6k and give it progressive throttle hit the quick shifter say early like 8k and POP. Yes nature of the bike. I take it you have ridden inline 4's before owning a large sport v-twin.

hiya yes jap inline 4s in my past , them aprilia rsvr1000 ,jap inline 4s again then the 899 and now the 1299.
so you are saying the more miles I get on it the smoother it will get etc.Yes this is the first twin over 1000cc I have owned and currently running in.
its like a tempermental wild horse.it takes quite a lot of input to keep it inline when using the rpm around 4k as it wants to go for it like it hits a power band. think the race akrapovics don't help to be honest.
even though im moaning a bit I still cant wait to get back on it as its addictive . just the weather is crap at the moment
