Ok, got my FE... Love it. Been out for a few rides on it. There are some things I want to change on it, but I'm looking for advice and tips from anyone who has done any of the following:

1. Switched to GP Shift. My old 1098S had this, and I guess my mind has been re-wired for it. I love the GP pattern, and I want it on this bike. Who has switched theirs and how did you do it? What Rearsets did you switch to, and any trouble with the quickshifter?

2. Tail tidy. I want to put on the very popular NRC LED lights and license plate bracket. When I looked at the pictures, the license bracket mounts where the FE has the carbon cover for the cross tube on the handlebar exhaust pipes. Anyone know if that can still be mounted? Are there other license plate solutions for the FE?

3. Clear clutch cover. Anyone see any reason why 1299 R parts wouldn't work on the FE?

4. Bubble windscreen. Love the shape of the FE windscreen. Anyone know who makes the exact same size/shape/profile, but in medium smoke?

5. Plastic engine covers on the side. I see all of these (seemingly) ridiculous little plastic covers all over the side of the engine. Can I take them off? Is the engine that ugly underneath? Are these purely aesthetic, or are they necessary for some reason on the FE?

6. I'm about 175 lbs. in normal street clothes. The suspension setup on this thing is WAY wrong for me. It feels way too wobbly when I come over the tank on a chicane style corner. I think I need a much more supple setting on the front, and a decent reduction in rear pre-load, but I'm just guessing. Who has some suggestions?

I know this is a ton of stuff, but hopefully it will interest other FE owners as well.

Oh she SWEET! Got a good few thousand on mine, love her.

CNC Racing Rear Sets, there is a pivot arm in the rearset that changes over to GP without disturbing the sensor. Everything works great, first thing I did. The heat shield needs modification though.

Get a Motobox setup it's PERFECT.

3. Clear clutch cover. Anyone see any reason why 1299 R parts wouldn't work on the FE?

I've got the CNC Pramac on mine, perfect. You can't use the aftermarket pressure plates though, our clutch has a taller stack because of the servo.

4. Bubble windscreen. Love the shape of the FE windscreen. Anyone know who makes the exact same size/shape/profile, but in medium smoke?

Try Zero Gravity, they have about 10 styles.

5. Plastic engine covers on the side. I see all of these (seemingly) ridiculous little plastic covers all over the side of the engine. Can I take them off? Is the engine that ugly underneath? Are these purely aesthetic, or are they necessary for some reason on the FE?

You can pull them, but they do direct a lot of air, and deflect a lot of heat.

Many will argue but Ohlins is for ..... Our back shock is fake TTX, and a total pos. The fork cartridges are negligible, but will beat your fillings out. Either going BiTubo or Mupo.

I'm Agents of Italia on IG, starting my Redline exhaust install today and have a whole lot more coming; and a whole lot already done. ✌

Hopefully this posts, giving me trouble! Lol

I can only speak to items 3 and 5.

Yes, both the modular and non modular clear clutch bath that fits the 1199 will also fit your FE.

If the covers you're talking about are the vertical cylinder covers then yes, you can absolutely remove those. Some say it raises the radiant heat on your legs during riding but that mod is commonplace. In my opinion it is more aesthetically pleasing to have them off if you can take a little extra warmth.
