Ducati 959 Exhaust Options: EU Spec vs. US Spec?

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a 2018 Ducati 959, and I’m a bit confused about the differences between the EU spec and the US spec models. I’m in the States, and my bike’s exhaust looks like an underbelly one.

Can anyone clarify the differences between the two specs and what my exhaust options are? Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Not sure what the differences are between the two specs of exhaust either. I just know that here in the US you can get:
-Termignoni, Slip ons or Full system, side or underbelly
-Akrapovic, Full system
-Arrow, Slip ons
-Werkes, Slip ons
-Toce, Slip ons
-Zard, Full system under seat

The suggested Termis for the 959 model have the exit forward instead of in the back. I am not a fan of that look and I feel like the better looking Termi for the 899 and 1199 can probably be fitted on the 959 but I never tried.

So the different is the EU ducatis have the normal looking high sligh exhaust the US version is the one with the underbelly stock exhaust.

No, either will fit.

The difference is likely just emission compliance. Some exhaust systems are labeled as homologated, which means they comply with emission regulations, i.e. the catalytic converters are still used, they meet noise regulations, etc.

Can you post a link to a particular exhaust you are considering?

It specifically says it will only fit EU version

Are you only shopping for a slip-on?

Just from looking at pictures, the only thing I can think of is the odd extra section the EU 959s seem to have which the side pipes attach to. It looks like a larger catalytic converter.

Termi sells an adapter p/n D155Y2 to use their under belly slip on, p/n D155102CPT which was made for the 1199/899.

Looking at Spark’s full system, and other full systems, they don’t differentiate between EU and US bikes, but a full system would remove that “extra” section the EU bikes have.

This is the stock exhaust for the US version it’s a dual underbelly. Comes out on both sides of the bike

Yeah, the same design as the 899/1199. I think there was a small change to the flange on the 959/1299 which is why Termi sells a different Y pipe to adapt the slip-on they sell for the 899/1199 to the 959.

It seems like there’s plenty of options for US 959s. If Termi includes a T-800 to flash the bike that’s a much better solution that the Austin one.

Can you send the direct link to the termi w flash

I offer the de-cat and db-killer removal/ bypass on stock pipes. Lighter and louder at reasonable cost.

Arrow is an option too. You have to add a tune, but I think if you get a Termi T800 to flash it they have maps for the arrow systems. I’m pretty sure this would work with a 959, but I’d call and check.

I’d also suggest checking eBay. The bike is old enough there may be full systems used for less than what you could get a slip on for.

I have a stock US under-belly exhaust with low mileage for sale if any of you Euro guys are interested.
No reasonable offer will be refused as the used car salesman says :D
