It's no secret that Ducati is working on a fully electric motorcycle, the first from Ducati, integrating solutions for the motor, battery, and inverter together.

And in 2023, Ducati will become the sole supplier for MotoE, providing 18 electric motorcycles on the race track every weekend.

How long until we see a electric Panigale on the showroom floor, whether it be fully electric or hybrid technology?

What would it take for you to seriously consider an E-Panigale?

I would stop riding motorcycles. Bikes must be angry and scary, and being loud, clattering, smelly, and polluting is a big part of being angry.
Even just starting my V4 in my garage gives me shivers. The anger of that machine always strikes me. It never gets old.
I think to myself, "This is not right. This is too much. This thing is too mean. I should not have this." And that's exactly what makes me love it so much.

Just mentioning “electrical” and Ducati in the same sentence should be enough to kill that idea as currently I think it’s something like 80+ % of the bikes in the service lines are for electrical/electronic related issues so as far as a “Ducati” electric motorcycle goes, LOL no ....... way.

That being said, there are some pretty awesome DIY and prototypes out there and electric is by far the biggest tech advancement category (look at the crazy stuff coming out of the bicycling sector).

I have an E bike, skateboard, scooter and some e projects. They are all a blast to ride for different reasons. Right now I don’t see the need for an e motorcycle but I do see advantages to them to the point I would consider one but in addition to ICE and again for different purposes.

If you haven’t ridden a fast 2 wheeled e powered, vehicle,I suggest you try it, it’s pretty fun.

As a replacement to ICE or as a complement? As a replacement, it would take the end of petrol, assuming synthetic fuel does not become a viable option. As a complement, it will take a significant decrease in vehicle curb weight and more battery energy density or an E-Panigale that delivers a great experience.

I got to see one of the prototype MotoE bikes up close at WDW a couple of months ago and was impressed with what Ducati has accomplished in such a short time frame since the MotoE announcement. And there is no doubt that the bike I saw wasn't the latest iteration.

Form me, bikes are about passion and emotion more than anything else. And that's why Ducati resonates with me the most. When they succeed at delivering that, I'll seriously consider pulling the trigger.

Price would be the main thing preventing me. Otherwise, I'd get one no doubt. I have a tesla which is beneficial for me and great for so many reasons, i have a nami burn e2 hyper scooter which is ...... scary to say the least, i have a daymak avvenire 3 wheeler on order and a motorcycle would round it up for me but it has to look the part also. Current e-bikes on the market are not visually appealing to me. I wouldn't replace either of my current bikes but I'd definitely add one. I've never been into the idea of an electronic bicycle and i haven't ridden a skateboard since i was a kid more than 30 years ago so that's a no also. However, this nami scooter though, i can't get enough of this beast! Electric is the way for me. No more paying for gas, besides my motorcycles that I hardly ride. Free charging! Can't beat it.

Sounds like you need a temperature controlled garage

if they can get 150 miles per charge at 90 mph avg and it weighs 500 lbs or less I'm in.

Hell yes, I'd get one as a compliment when they get it sorted, keeping current ICE bikes.
Must haves:
Performance as good or better than current Panigale. Contingent on battery tech improving significantly.
Battery warranties
Must have access to work on all systems - no fking sealed blackbox .....
Plus: Telemetry data EXCEPT: No data sharing outside of my control.
(I was recently hired to develop a data collecting system for cars that would share your driving habits and performance abilities to insurance companies without your knowledge, piggybacking the use of your own phone - with or without your knowing it for a major insurance company in the US. This would be used to determin your risk factors and the price you pay for everything around your car including insurance and ability to rent cars.
When I was briefed on the project I told them to go .... themselves and walked away.)

You can’t get more than 90 miles from a tank on a V4 and you expect to get almost double from battery?

I’d rather have sacrifice range and it be lighter, like 300-400 lbs.

ok, 90 miles, but it recharges to 50% in 15 minutes

The Moto E bike weighs 496 lbs. The street E bike will be greater than 500 lbs. A V4 hybrid would likely also be close to 500 lbs.

Nah. MotoE bike also needs more battery to finish a whole race where the rider is demanding full power corner after corner, lap after lap for about 45 mins. A road/track version only needs half the power capacity to complete a 20 min session. Then you need 15 min to get it back to 80% charge (which is about half the time that you’ll be waiting for the other sessions to run). Rinse and repeat.

Capacity is easy to come by. Just add more batteries. What I would be focusing if I were at Ducati is on electronic “feeling” for throttle control and fast recharging. Leave battery chemistry to the battery makers.

Battery tech is what will limit the development. Look at the motor in next years Duck E-Bike. Relatively small compared to a ICE engine. The Battery however is massive, heavy & is holding the bike back. Pirro I think said it accelerates similar to the Panigale. But it is heavy! And that weight costs you everywhere!

Personally I would wait a few years until the bike is completely sorted.

The battery in the motoE bike is 18kwh, only 3kwh larger than the Harley Livewire, and it weighs 240 lbs. A 240 lb battery required to complete 6-8 laps (race distance). Keep in mind that the entire motoE bike is made of carbon fibre, aluminum, titanium, and unobtainium! The street bike is going to be greater than 500 lbs. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
