Hey I'm looking on purchasing a monster 1200s and wanted to know some questions regarding the header sizing if anyone knows the answer.

Basically is there any sizing difference in pipe sizes from the 14-16 model to the 17-20 models?

If i purchased a 2018 will an after market pipe that only says for MY 14-16 fit ? Reason im asking such a silly question is because the website does not list 17-20 monster at all when selecting your bike, wondering if it was just never updated in the system.

The headers should fit as the engine has not changed, however the muffler portion and the mounting point to the sub-frame is different.
AFAIK, only the "R" model has larger diameter header pipes.
The 2017+ : 52mm before the exhaust valve and 64mm on the connection flange.
The "R" : 58mm before the exhaust valve and 64mm on the connection flange.

Ok so the connection point after the valve is the same on all models . thanks for that info .

FYI: on the 1200R, the rear cylinder header is larger at the mating point of the Y pipe, however it is the same size at the port.
As I have an R, I installed a system for an S, and oddly enough that rear shorty header section is the same for all versions of this era Monster other than the R. A rear header from a smaller motor fit perfect.
So the "larger headers" is really a minsnomer, as the collector and everything else is the same downstream while only the one end flange of the header is changed- must've been a marketing exercise, I doubt that tiny variable does anything for performance.

My point in this comment is that you have more choices than you think if you do some research on part numbers across models.
