Hey guys! I’m new to the Ducati family and recently gave my r1 to my son. I now have the v4 panigale and the dwc is so much different than my old r1. I’m an experienced rider and wheelies are my thing, however I’m not trying to ride this expensive machine at balance point. I have wheelie control set to 1 in race mode and this things seems to want to rise to at least 10 o’clock. Is this normal or is my wheelie control not working?

One is the least amount of wheelie control. If you want less wheelie, a higher number for DWC will help more.

I get the settings. Just wondering if it’s normal to elevate to 10 o’clock on wheelie control. If this is a normal lift for Ducati…........ badass! Does anyone know the lift for setting 1? Seems like it would take it close to balance point.

If youre going up, you are not going forward, DWC is an aid to make you go faster round in circles, Increase it to six and see how that feels

That’s not his question, he likes the wheelies, and just wants to know if anyone knows details about just how much each setting will let the front lift up.

Akilles I doubt anyone here knows lol

I certainly don’t….test it for us in the different settings and let us know lol

That would be some new and cool information here lol

Ducati are a lot more liberal with their hoon settings than the japanese, they assume that people who ride their bikes know what they're doing and if they want minimum wheelie control but still want some protection against flipping it then they can have it.
The manual explains each setting quite well for each ride mode, level 3 TC in sport is much more intrusive than level 3 TC in RaceB for example.

dont trust the WC to save your ... buddy. I ride wheelies all the time on my 1299. turn that .... off.

The response will not be consistent, that is the danger. Do not think it will be repeatable man, i promise you it wont. if the road has any change in elevation at all, your gonna have issues.

I only use DWC at the track, and Level 2 is enough to pin the throttle without lifting too high.

@Loony888 From my manual reading the DTC level does not change according to Sport/Race…other settings may be more aggressive (Power for one) that will trigger the DTC differently, but the lift rate intervention should be the same.

@SirJAG is right, the IMU gauges is based on the the perceived “horizon”, so as long as you are aware how it thinks and that a lot of variables can greatly influence how it reacts it is a clever system to lean on.

I got it! I this Ducati lifts well over 9 o’clock. If you guys aren’t wheelie fanatics, then you probably never get that high. However setting one takes the Ducati to around 10 o’clock and then throttle reduces power. Not scared of looping since I can achieve balance point with all settings off. Machine is a beast! Thanks guys

ya i feel you man! love to wheelie my 1299. I can hold bring up in 1st and shift all the way to 4th before it sets the front end down...or third gear standups right to balance point. I prolly only hold them a min tops like that though...

It took me about a year to get to that point on this bike, its so damn powerful and torquey....

Hi mate is the system basically the same on the hypers DTC is the wheelie killer? I'm to lazy to read the book or just rather be riding I'll go with that sounds better

I dont know if its the same partner...but if i were you i'd turn the DWC to zero. DTC will not do anyting for wheelies...unless your back tire is spinning.
Also, great question man..i ride wheelies everytime i take my panigale out..its kinda my thing...glad i'm not the only one.

They feel very much the same between my Hyper and Pani, but the power delivery is so different it is hard to make comparisons. Hyper get's nerfed early and makes abrupt interruptions due to the low end torque and the V4 let's it float up slowly in the midrange and at peak RPMs it can let the front be skimming a few inches above the ground.
