Entertaining review of the panigale in commute mode

Thanks for sharing, he is pretty funny. I thought his review was very consistent with most comments I've seen by other "professional" reviewers. He's bang on about the shifter too, the DQS is not nearly as fluid on the street as the S1000RR QS. I've ridden them back to back and was shocked how much smoother and quicker the BMW QS was than the 1199.

I have ridden my bike in London on a similar day and I found that the best way to negate the issue with the jerky throttle that he mentions is to put it in wet mode, you can manually adjust the bike if you want the full power but in my experience you probably don't need much more than the 120hp on offer and just back off on the traction control. Job done.

I think that if he had tried that, he might have felt a little better.

For sure . Reviewing a Superbike for it's commuting capabilities is ridiculous to start with .
While the QS is not as good as the BMW it's not that bad either .

Agreed on the QS. Testing the commuting capabilities of the 1199 was the point of his video. We all can't be rock stars like Wilkson and have different horses for different courses. Sometimes we have to just pick one bike to do it all and I think his review was interesting from that standpoint. The bike seemed all-stock and we know how much better the bike is with at least the slip-ons and up-map. Gearing changes help too but it's a fair enough test of the bike as it comes off the showroom floor.

Really ? He should have bought the BMW .

He already owns an S1000RR. I just watched his 899 "first spankings" video and it's a testament to the Panigale series that he spent 12K GBP on the bike because he enjoyed his test ride so much. Similar to some USA reviews I've seen on the 899 he preferred it to the 1199 because he could spank it much harder on the road. In the videos he admits that he like his motorcycling more "easy" than challenging, so his comments and choices make sense in that respect.

Actually, maybe you guys are onto something here. MotoGP - Rush hour! "Can you beat the heat?" ;)

Seriously, if I lived in the city I wouldn't have considered the 1199. That's like trying to blow out candles using a stick of dynamite!

LOL. I'm going to tell my wife I'm a rock star tonight things are looking up .
Get a MTS 1200 . There you go review done .

I think the comfort level on the bike depends on the size of the rider. At 6'3 my wrist kills me at the track or commute. Of course it was not till a long ride after I bought the bike that I noticed it. That has been my only commute complaint other than the heat that "does not exist".

That info about changing to "wet mode" is the key. It does amazing things for traffic.

The 1199 hates sissy's

Mine is bad ... to commute, 2nd gear 3500rpm its not jerking and just cruises going bat bat bat bat bat bat bat bat bat Like some Ferrari motor ready to crak off and be gone.

Who needs QS for commuting anyway? I only use it when the xmas tree is lit up.

Agreed.

That's how my 848 felt for me at 6'.

Running and core strength really helps with that, at 51 its a ....., but I don't want get wadded up in a off.

I laughed when he said it "fell off the stand". Really!?
I love mine whether commuting on it or stretching it's legs...

For me,i will use wet mode for inner city ride. You don't need a 195bhp rocket for inner city. Switch to wet mode and the 1199 will behave like an 899...

I live in the suburbs and do a lot of city commuting with my Panigale when I am in country. She's got the pro stock upmap, 15 -42 sprockets, PCV with Auto tune etc and is such a lovely commute, short fuse though... :D

Ps. I ride on sports mode with throttle set to 195 hi.
