Hey guys
Question has anyone rigged or created a charger for cellphone /gps from the bike

Ie a dc power outlet

Can the bike handle it? Thoughts

Not something I've done, but I would be fairly confident in saying yes you can.

However, before you go chopping into wires etc. with an after-market kit, the Scrambler already has this feature so again I would be fairly sure other tourers would have as well. I would be inclined to ask the dealers first to see if Ducati already make this kit and if it can be used on the 1199. Chances are it would be compatible and probably just an under seat plug in or similar.

I have not done this , but I saw this unit online.
this is called a battery tender female power port. most ducati's I've seen come with a charging port on the lower left side. this would require you re- rout your charging port.
I've found it best to keep my bike on a ctek battery charger when ever I'm not riding it . either the battery on the duc hasn't enough cca/ starting nut, or there is a real drain on the power while the bike is sitting not running. if you're going to do this I would recommend getting a smart battery charger compatible with agm batteries .

I would guess that the alternator has enough power to keep the battery charged and charge a cel phone- especially at speed. I would think at lower rpm and at idle you could drain the bat.

Yes x3. Cigarette socket and USB plug is probably the easiest method. I went with the route Macattack suggests, just plug it into the Optimate cable which comes off the battery. Bike handles it fine, just remember to unplug it so it doesn't drain the battery.

You can run it off the alternator so it's only powered when the bike is running. Located under the LHS main fairing, from memory the 3 phase cables in are yellow, posi tap off the red/black exiting.
