Slightly off-topic but with the demographic of people on this forum, i'd be curious to see how many Lotus converts happen after that new bike of theirs debuts.
Never had anyone ask me that question. hmmm. Who knows what is gonna be out in 3-5 yrs and at the rate I go thru bikes I am sure to sell the Tri and move on up to more of a top shelf model than I have now.
Yeah, there's a lot to choose from, and first year for a vehicle bites virtually all of the time. 2 years from now the 1199 R should be quite well supported if not completely supported for all legacy model issues. Also by then it will probably have some changes in keeping with the continued push for performance and reliability. For lotus, it sounds exciting what they are doing and they are the masters at performance through lightweight, we shall see what it looks like, and if it looks anything as good as the esprit v8 of yesteryear or the concept esprit, it will be tough not to want to experience it, but I know lotus and would not go for the first year model. Maybe second year but first year will be more headache than fun, unless you like to put it on display and not to be ridden. YMMV
Honestly I have not had or heard of many 1199r (any?) issues to date. Which is a pretty good sign.
I've always loved the Lotus Esprit, and I had an Elise for a short while. I am sure Lotus will have near zero influence, but I like the idea if it is a cool looking bike.
i'll wait for the 1199 sp
I made a pact with myself not to buy the first year model considering the issues I have experienced or seen over the years.
Glad I did, when the R came out I couldn't resist...especially since my previous Duc was 5 years old and had over 20K on the clock.
The R is the best Duc I ever rode
-- i'd agree with that 100% - probably best bike (period) !
Almost as good as the base
-- if i wanted a base model anything, i'd buy a volkswagen
didn't know they made bikes.
